News from the Italian media TUTTOmercatoWEB today that Newcastle are ready to move back in for their central midfield target – 25-year-old Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro.
The report is that our first bid for €13M was turned down and Newcastle are ready to raise that to €14M and include bonuses of €2M – although Juventus want €18M for their Italian International.
With Mikel Merino leaving the club shortly Rafa will want to bring in a replacement quickly and the 25-year-old could challenge immediately for a position in Newcastle’s midfield.
Newcastle to increase bid for 25-year-old Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro
Rafa is said to be very keen to get the Italian to Newcastle and he will know about him after managing Napoli for two years in the Italian League from 2013.
The Italian has been linked with the Magpies in recent weeks after reports Rafa Benitez is keen to bring the player to St James’ Park.
That seems a good offer although West Ham have been reported to be very keen on signing the Italian and gazumping Newcastle’s bid by offering the full €18M for the player.
Leicester City are another Premier League club interested in Sturaro.
Let’s hope that Rafa has already held some discussions with Stefano and he has set his heart on joining Rafa’s revolution at Newcastle.
