Newcastle Goalkeeper Wanted By Turkish Powerhouse

There’s news coming out of Turkey today via Haberturk that Fenerbahce are keen to sign Matz Sels from Newcastle.

The Turkish giants want to sign a new goalkeeper this summer to challenge their current veteran goalkeeper and captain Volkan Demirel.

Volkan is 37-year-old and will sign a new deal this summer to stay another year with Fenerbahce.

Demirel has been at Fenerbahce since 2002 and has played 490 times for the club and 63 times for Turkey.

Matz wouldn’t be too happy to sign on for the Turkish giants and then spend time on the bench but there’s an opportunity for him here too.

Sels was close to signing on at Anderlecht but the deal fell through a couple of weeks back when the Belgium club wouldn’t pay the £2.25M fee Newcastle wanted.

Matz has no future at Newcastle after Rafa brought him in for about £5M from Gent two years ago and it’s important for him to link up with some club this summer.

Comments welcome.

Just watched Bobby Robson More than a manager.

Crying here – and not embarrassed to say it.

I downloaded it for free but sent £20 to the foundation.

Mbappe just 19 yrs old. This kid will become a legend of modern day football. We can only dream and drool. Ashley could afford him though if he felt so inclined.

Well I got that result wrong but fair do’s to France they deserved it.

I was waiting to see the camera’s focus on the hand balling cheat, with a flood of tears rolling down his face but they didn’t, pity.

Looks good on the you tube clip I’ve just watched, big, strong and good ball control. Played with the number 9 on his back so probably a striker.

With this young Swiss lad joining us I trust that the set up at the Academy and for the teams outside the main squad are all being upgraded with coaching staff of the highest calibre

lochinvar I was reading a piece on this kid about 2/3 weeks ago and apparently although he’s eligible for the youth setup, don’t be surprised if he is in and around the first team set up.

Much like Perez when we signed him.

Actually (places tin hat on head and firmly tightens strap) Uruguay aren’t much to fear. Portugal had them defending all second half and looked a bit weary. Cavani looks duffed now too. And France – ok they beat Argentina but hardly a great Argentina side and they conceded three. It’s all a bit up in the air still.

France had another gear that they didn’t use. They were unlucky in the first half an just did what they had to in the second. I am quite impressed by France.

So we are supposed to be signing yannick toure. He supposedly had a trial earlier and I had joked that mike Ashley found something that was cheaper than loan deals. Joking aside, the kid looks a prospect going by youtube and internet reports, not seen him at all other that. At 17 he should be for the development squad and is a good standard of player to be adding. Hopefully more to follow for the development squad alongside the first team as we did release a lot of younger players.

How many we will sign tomorrow ?
We seem to be building from the back forwards with signings so guess that our super striker signing will be the last of the transfer window but perhaps the most surprising and best ?
    A whiff of optimism reigns
