The Mirror are reporting today that Newcastle are interested in 25-year-old Liverpool striker Danny Ings.
Two Premier League clubs are mentioned – with Crystal Palace the other club interested in signing the former Bournemouth and Burnley striker.
The other good news for Newcastle is that Liverpool will allow Ings to leave and will ask only a reasonable fee for the player who has shown great character and spirit at Anfield over the last three years.
The fee has been quoted as only £9M and Ings is anxious to leave for first team football next season.
Danny Ings – in action for Liverpool
Danny has been unlucky on Merseyside and suffered two serious knee injuries which have kept him out of the game for long stretches.
And Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has often praised the player for his character and fortitude at the club so he would fit right in at Newcastle under Rafa Benitez.
And we have been linked with Ings constantly since Rafa joined Newcastle over two years ago.
Klopp did play the 25-year-old this year as a sub and the striker played 14 games with one goal.
Before those games, he had played only 11 games with 3 goals at Anfield because of his severe injuries.
We have always thought Danny would be an excellent buy for Newcastle – especially for £9M.
In his career Ings has played 197 first team games with 60 goals and 19 assists.
At Liverpool, over three seasons he played 25 times with 4 goals and a single assist.
