Striker Getting Closer To The Door At Newcastle

The Telegraph are reporting that Fulham think they have agreed a deal in principle with Newcastle for 23-year-old striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Newcastle want £20M for their striker who did OK in the World Cup for Serbia; they were knocked out in the group stage of the tournament in Russia.

A deal in principle is nothing legally, and it’s a bit of an oxymoron – it is definitely not legally binding in any way.

Aleksandar Mitrovic – could leave Newcastle before the end of the month

Mitrovic will not return from holiday until later this month although a deal could be done before then if Newcastle can agree a fee with some club.

And Rafa is hard at work trying to bring in at least one new striker who will replace the Serbian star before he lets Mitro leave the club.

The Telegraph report is from the usually reliable Luke Edwards who is reporting a deal could be done with Fulham before the end of this month.

If Fulham are willing to pay Newcastle £20M for Mitrovic that would be a good deal for us and the funds can then be used to bring in more players this summer.

All deals have to complete on or before August 9th this year – two days before our season starts against Spurs.

The north London club may be short of some of their England players if England do really well in the World Cup.

We have no such problems.

🙂

Mitro out for £20m , Plea in for £15m. £5m in the piggy bank.

Strange comments about Italians there. Without even having to think too hard about it Zola, Di Matteo, Di Canio, Balotelli, Ravenelli and Vialli come to mind.

Why not give West Brom 10 million for Rondon and Aarons ?

They are rumoured to be interested in signing Rolando and it would allow us to reduce the fee for an incoming player while freeing up space in the squad

lochinver. Having watched a few games here, the standard is appalling, so I guess Yohan will be a massive hit.

Hate to think the salary he’s on.

Oh and kebabs are very, very popular here so he’ll be at home.

None of the players we’re linked with excite me or even can be categorised as definitive upgrades on what we have.

    Sturaro – Italian Hayden

    Plea – French £25m Gayle

    Townsend – Ritchie is better

Rondon – Awful, just awful. Mitrovic so much better.

Still no signs of a no10.

Kenedy only positive – will he won’t he?

    Instead!

    Dembele – £25m

Wilshere – (free) big wage but so what, get with times – you;re essentially getting a potential £40m+ asset for your willingness to pay the wages if Rafa could do with him what he has for Shelvey in terms of fitness and focus.

    Traore – £20m

Kenedy – loan with option to buy

Cheap LB/4th CB – Pieters from Stoke

    Don’t sell Ritchie.

    Get rid of:

    Mitro – £20m
    Merino – £10-12m
    Sels – £3m
    Mbemba – £7m

Net spend less than £20m and a genuinely exciting squad with all the players – barring Merino – that contributed last season still here.

    Too much to ask?

I like Mitro, will be sad to see him go but if he’s not in Rafa’s plans then I trust The Gaffer so better to cash in. I also think a player like Mitro tends to lead to a brand of football that most fans don’t always want to see.

I know we’ve got Yannick Toure who is Swiss, but I thought there were rumours we were after another young French lad in the Mbappe mould who’s already being quoted at about 30M allegedly. Maybe Plea is that sort of striker but at 25 is hardly up and coming. Maybe dementia setting in but sure I saw this somewhere.

A lot of speculating about ST sales on here. My son has just tried to buy one in the same are as us and there are hardly any available anywhere – I don’t know if this means they have all gone or they are holding a lot of seats back for general match sales?

ive got to admit when i voiced my concerns about players coming from italy i wasnt thinking back to the nineties when italy had a league on par with ours and had some great players. i was more thinking of the last ten or fifteen years when theyve been poor and their league is so slow they cant adapt to the epl.

so these 90s players were good_ ravenelli, zola, di matteo, carbone, casiraghi, di canio, lombardi and maybe vialli. although irrelevant to the current state of Italian football.
in recent decades you can add pelle
balotelli is contentious. he arrived with a big rep and flopped. santon was ok but arrived as a new maldini and left for less than we paid. pistone was nothing special. many fans slaughtered him.

everyone else on that huge list was a flop. matterazzi was one of the worlds best defenders for italy or in italy, at everton he was so so. same goes for giaccherini and rossi. osvaldo was signed for approx 25m, released on a free. i think corradi cost 7m and never played. borini was hyped and cost lots but did nothing. silenzi used to score bucketloads in italy. dont think he scored any here. then theres aquilani, branca, gabbiadini, maccarone, montella, taibi, ventola, ambrisini, zaza. all the rest ive either forgotten are they werent as spectacular flops as the rest

Eeeh, we’re all getting excited at the prospect of Plea and,Strurore or whatever coming in. Record signings? No chance. How many times have we seen this hype before and how many times have we signed the supposed big ticket targets? Not a lot! And how many Z listers have we signed instead?

Between Ashley, Charnley and Bishop, they’re going through the motions again and folk are getting excited. As Seeger once asked, when will they ever learn?

How can anyone be surprised at a premium rate number on the ST sales desk? It’s not meanness as you put it, it’s greed on Ashley’s part. In Ashley’s book, fans are customers who aren’t valued and treated with respect, they’re there to have the pi$$ (and money) taken out of them.

Could the apparent shortage shortage of STs available be down to an IT system that’s doctored to show limited availability until such point that there really are only 200 or so left?

Create a shortage, create a demand?

    0843/0844 Non-geographic, revenue-sharing numbers.

Most landline providers set an access charge between 6p and 12p per min for 084 calls. You’ll also pay a service charge of up to 7p per minute, depending on the company you’re calling.

Most mobile providers set an access charge between 35p and 55p per min for 084 calls. You’ll also pay a service charge of up to 7p per minute, depending on the company you’re calling.

Is it not possible that the club has seen a 90%+ renewal rate from existing season ticket holders? That would leave only a few thousand season tickets available which could get snapped up fast.

You have to remember, we are the loyalist football supporters the World has ever seen.

Sorry, maybe I’m old fashioned, but can you imagine the reaction if Ashley introduced a turnstile and fee to enter his SD shops?

But then again, convince Joe public that he/ she’s going to get a bargain while limited stocks last………

If there’s so few season tickets remaining are they keeping back a block of them to charge more of corporate clients perhaps thinking that some extra demand will come from amongst others South Korean and Chinese football fans who would like to go to a game, hopefully as true fans and not football ground tourists.

Or perhaps Ashley should get started on the Gallowgate expansion plans to take capacity up to 60,000.

i think that numbers could be pretty close to the truth,
i was in the ticket office on friday afternoon and they were saying then that they only had 1400 seats available
the club could have easily done 3/400 a day since then,
must be getting down to single seats now with that low number

    You are starting
    (starting ?!)
    to look a bit foolish
We have some of the cheapest ST’s in the PL with
really generous payment terms and deals.

Without really having to , the club decided to make
    NUFC.co.uk – free.

The assistance the club gives the food bank is huge
    https://twitter.com/nufcfoodbank?lang=en

As I say your persistent denigration of all things NUFC
    is becoming very tedious
