Two In So Far – Rafa Wants At Least Four More Players Signed This Summer

Newcastle have brought two players into the squad this summer so far – both 29 year-olds – Slovakian goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and South Korean Kim Sung-yueng – both excellent acquisitions.

But Rafa is looking to get at least four more top class players through the door this summer – a right back, an attacking midfielder, a winger and a striker.

He will need a right back to challenge  DeAndre Yedlin although local lad Paul Dummett could also could do with some additional competition at left-back.

With both full-backs Jesus Gamez and Massadio Haidara not being retained, we could even see Rafa bring in two full-backs this summer.

Rafa Benitez – wants at least four more first teamers this summer

An attacking midfielder is needed to challenge Jonjo Shelvey, and we expect local lad Jack Colback to leave this summer – he has no future with Rafa as manager.

Ki Sung-yuen can play attacking midfield, but he’s usually a defensive holding midfielder – so we’ll see who may come in.

At last one winger is needed and Newcastle’s first choice is Kenedy from Chelsea, but Rafa could also try to get Andros Townsend back at Newcastle from Crystal Palace – if he can sell Matt Ritchie for something like £15M.

And of course, we need a striker.

Newcastle are said to be after 25-year-old Nice striker Alassane Plea, and we have rekindled our interest in West Brom’s Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon.

Danny Ings is also available from Liverpool for a cheap looking £9M so Rafa could also go after him, but he doesn’t seem to be a current priority.

We could even see Rafa bring in two strikers this summer and if that happened, he might decide to sell Dwight Gayle as well as Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Both strikers seem to be in demand with several Championship clubs keen to sign Dwight Gayle.

So Newcastle seem to be in full flow in the transfer market at the moment, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

SoWe need to see those signings coming in – soon.

As well as a goal scorer for me a left back has to be a priority we struggled big time with make shift full backs with Dummett out! It was the same when we got relegated under Rafa Sissoko etc were all played at left back but when Dummett came back we went the rest of the season unbeaten!!

Manquillo is actually decent right back cover hes not a left back though so we do need one to either provide competition or take Dummetts spot in the team (although he could play centre half)

What tittle tattle from Owen. Well reported in The Mag.

Wasn’t he also according to the press involved in advertising property or time shares in maybe Qatar where there were some questions raised over the developers working practices ? It’s all about money and his racing habits for him.

Ed – don’t think for one moment we’ve rekindled any interest in Rondon, yet alone had any interest in the first place.
He wants out of WBA for obvious reasons and his Agent has been touting him about which is different.

Ings and Plea would be a big step up from what we have. Plea is of course more an unknown in terms of what he can do in the premier, but I trust Rafa’s judgement in the striking department when he’s given decent money to spend. Rondon would be a useful squad player but if you look at his scoring record he’s not the answer to our problems. Clearly we don’t have 20 million to spend on a squad player.

I personally think we need another 6 players especially if mbemba and mitrovic and possibly Ritchie are going, we needed 3/4 anyway and if 3/4 go we need to replace them, I think plea Kennedy, Townsend, would be a definite 3 to go for all good players, keep seeing sturaro being linked he’s decent id prefer Ozyakup, but I still think we need a number 10 and a defender, would love loftus cheek on loan
