Magpies Will Play Hardball With Two Of Our Valuable Players

Stoke City are keen to buy Matt Richie for next season, and the news is they have offered him £75K/week to join them.

That’s about £30K/week more than he’s getting at Newcastle but Matt would have to take another step down in leagues as he did when he joined us two years ago from Bournemouth.

But it’s hardly surprising Stoke want the player and are willing to pay him huge wages.

Promotion straight back to the Premier League can earn the Potters an extra £100M in the first year back.

Two of our best players in the Championship – Matt Richie and Dwight Gayle

That’s what Newcastle did two years ago, but it’s a risky business spending lots of money because you must get promoted quickly.

Aston Villa are living proof that if you don’t make it back quickly you can quickly get into financial trouble.

So it’s not really surprising that ambitious Stoke want Matt but Newcastle have quickly turned down their offer of £15M for him – reported in the Chronicle.

Newcastle know Matt is a valuable resource in the Championship and in our promotion season he was our Player of the Season with 16 goals and 9 assists – and involved in 25 goals.

So Newcastle will only sell Matt if they get a higher bid than £15M coming in for the former Bournemouth winger – who remains a huge favorite on Tyneside because of his guts, skill, and passion.

And striker Dwight Ritchie is in much the same position, and it would take a large fee from a Championship club for Rafa to part with the former Crystal Palace striker.

In our promotion season, Dwight scored 23 goals and had 4 assists so he was involved in 27 goals.

And he was injured with hamstring problems for most of the second half of the season and played in only 34 games.

It seems Rafa doesn’t want to lose either player, but if a silly bid comes in, he could sell.

And if Matt moves from Newcastle surely he will want to return home to Bournemouth and stay in the Premier League – a better player after two years on Tyneside.

The Cherries are one the clubs said to be interested in taking him back.

Micky from previous “Now I’m no Ashley apologist at all but you (Ashley) just doesn’t give the keys to the Cathedral on the Hill away, you just don’t.
Rafa obviously has a say in the signing of players, (unlike for example Chelsea where the coach has no choice in the purchases, how they’re funded or their salaries), but he shouldn’t and can’t be given carte blanche in the whole process – that’s a recipe for disaster.”

Yes, agreed – I’ve always said the best Rafa could hope for (and all he would reasonably expect) is to know that he has ‘x’ amount of money, which is based on ‘y’ economic factors at the club, which he would hope to have some vision of so he knows he’s not being stiffed, and that he has free reign to spend that money as he sees fit.

If this means he takes a Football Director role and sits on the board or if he is actively involved in the appointment of such a person, someone he trusts because he can’t bring himself to take time away from coaching the team, then that would be great.

After all, McClownface was nominated a director during his tenure. Surely Ashley doesn’t want Barnes, one of his most trusted lieutenants, babysitting NUFC when he probably has a million and one other things to do, like building a Sith empire or something.

Another must have for this summer, along with Jib’s Tesco Sun Lounger for £1, are these. This ad keeps popping up when I log onto the blog! God only knows what’s supposed to be happening in the ad!

this is whats happening with benitez. hes been offered a contract, its agreeable, hes waiting to see if we can bring in the players he wants, charnley is trying, hell get some, others will go elsewhere or their clubs won’t sell, or ask for more than the players worth like jorgensen, then well pursue others. we will spend what we generate. benitez will sign. theres no stand off, no.conspiracy, no knives in the back.

All the people claiming Ritchie is one of our best players are the same idiots that where saying last year he wasnt good enough and should be dropped.

So many people on here claiming they’ve been posting or reading for years but have no idea of the history on the blog.

Easy to spot them, claims of I’ve never saw that poster, or I’ve never heard him say that.

    So funny
In January we were willing to pay
    €18 million for Nikolai Jorgensen
Feyenoord will be lucky to get
2s/6d and a packet of chewy now.

id sell Ritchie, Gayle, Clark, Atsu, maybe Hayden, and Darlow provided we get decent offers. id probably keep Joselu as hes not much worse than what weve been linked with, would save us 20m and nobody would want him anyway. im assuming we can upgrade all those players and i like darlow but benitez doesnt seem to rate him.

Isn’t it weird that, even though we’re linked with loads of other players, other than Mitro (who was going anyway) and now Ritchie, no one seems to want our players?

Why hasn’t that ginger twat Colbeck not left yet for example? He’d rather sit in the reserves and do nothing instead of help his “Team” NUFC by leaving.

we should offer 8m for Jorgensen. it will teach them not to ask for double a players value in future.
