Ayoze Perez won his second successive Goal of the Season award last season for his great lob against Leicester City in a breakaway at the King Power Season.
That follows the previous season’s win when he scored against Ipswich, and he also won the award back in the 2014-2015 with that superb backheel against West Brom
Rafa yesterday presented Ayoze Perez with the Goal of the Season award and posted it on his new Instagram account.
Ayoze seems to be improving all the time under fellow Spaniard Rafa Benitez but he still needs to be more consistent, but his work-rate last season was astonishing – he worked his socks off for the cause.
We are hoping Perez can score more than his 8 goals last season (6 in the Premier League) during the coming campaign.
That would help the team a lot.

Comment #1this season is about consolidation i.e. finishing mid-table without relegation worries. then we’ll see where we go from there. it’s about progression – promotion, survival, consolidation…

Comment #8NUFC is standing still (going backwards) the signings we are making or discussing are the same as in January, there has been little in the way of progress with player recruit. Indeed we are still all calling out for the same positionsas last summer.

Comment #9Tis a pity that Merino departed as he would have been in the photo with Rafa and Perez to give more meaning to the trailer for next season

With all the money available and whatever Rafa sells to reinvest back into the squad.. You would be happy to consolidate again??
To build a housing site you need bricks and to move a club forward you need better players.34 days left to sign better players otherwise Rafa will be doing no building at Nufc as he will be off at the end of the season mate

I agree totally and that’s what I was talking about regarding Rondon. He for me is a typical Newcastle signing that you hope will get us through the season,And not a player to move us forward as a club

Comment #14Like to see Rashford get a run out today but probably Southgate won’t start him. No mistakes from Stones/Maguire /Walker and we could win.
Also like to see that scumbag Larsson get a red.

“Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live
“The one concern I have, is how we create. In open play we have not created very much and we live off scraps and set pieces. Harry Kane has scored tap-ins.”

Comment #16I reckon that Perez will bang in 15+ next season no problem.
On a slightly different note I was delighted to see England beat the arrogant Indians to square the series, think they thought all they had to do walk onto the pitch to win.

Jesper,
You accuse me of spouting drivel? Yet you come on here complaining that we can’t shift dead wood who’s contracts have actually ran out and have left the club, you state that we wasted half a window chasing a player who signed for Swansea in June, you call him Tammy tap in despite having never seen him play due to your commitments in the kitchen and other household chores. It is plain for the eye to see Jesper that every time you post these days it is an out pouring of pure drivel.
Jail…as you probably have noticed no one really respond to nonsense you keep posting on here accept a select few of course…but who takes notice really 😉
Wise up and extend your old kitchen repertoire! You and Tsunki are becoming a cartoon character of yourselves…

Comment #21So Richie who’s been a stable top performer is a £11.5M player and Townsend who’s an underachiever is a £17M player? And Kenedy who’s only real PL season was with us is a £20M player? Hmm

Comment #22Jesper – let’s say they’re all worth £15m each as that would work to our advantage

Comment #25If we are looking at future potential, Kenedy would be a bargain at 20m, 15m for Ritchie would be a fair price, as would 15m for Townsend so I reckon lochinvar has it about right.

Of those valuations you are questioning, I’m only a bit surprised really with Ritchie at a paltry 11.5million. But he is just starting to wane a little..
You don’t have to watch Kennedy for long to see 20mill will probably turn out to be a real steal for us. He is class. And Townsend, in my opinion, will soon shine again when under Rafa’s coaching.

Comment #32I could be wrong but I think Sweden were one of the top scoring teams during qualifying. I like the way the play as a team. They defend like their lives are at stake and although they don’t get high possesion they always look to play the ball forward which is a lot more positive than passing it around in defence for half the game. The team spirit is one of the reasons they’ve done so well and they remind me of NEwcastle in every aspect. If they score first we will lose or draw at the most. Our midfield simply won’t be to break them down. If we score first they’ll have to change their counter attacking game and their lack of quality will be exploited and we could thrash them. I’m going to say 2-0 England. First goal from a set piece. We really need a positive performance with something to get the fans excited. Sterling has to step up and show some flair. At the moment we have replaced Italy as that team that bores its way to the final.

… but I would rather keep Richie than paying £17M for what so hope Townsend could be under Rafa!
