Breaking News – Kenedy To Have Medical Tomorrow

This is really great news today that Kenedy is on his way to Newcastle for a medical scheduled for tomorrow and he will then sign on for Newcastle on a season-long loan deal.

Sky Sports issued this article within the last hour with the excellent news.

As detailed earlier today there have been positive talks between Chelsea and Newcastle and Rafa was a vital part of this deal – make no mistake about that.

Kenedy with Rafa Benitez – 22-year-old is coming back

The 22-year-old Brazilian spend this year on loan with Newcastle and was a real star for the team and our fans will be absolutely delighted he is coming back on loan for next season.

He was back in preseason training last Monday at Chelsea, and it now looks like he will be on the plane to Ireland on Wednesday for the training camp.

Rafa Benitez is now said to be willing to sell Matt Ritchie if he gets the right price for him.

Sky Sports News is reporting that the move for Kenedy is independent of any move for Andros Townsend – so it looks like Rafa really wants Andros back on Tyneside after he left us two years ago.

This is a huge breakthrough by Newcastle and a big win (another one) for Mr. Rafa Benitez.

Now the big question is whether Rafa got an “option to buy” in the loan contract.

But given there were good talks between the clubs it’s very likely Rafa has that “option to buy” clause in there.

The Chronicle is reporting tonight the discussions with Chelsea have been about the loan fee and what transfer fee they would want if Newcastle want to buy him next summer.

Since Kenedy is on his way for a medical you have to assume they have come to some mutual agreement – we hope that’s true.

If we sign Kenedy it means we have our two loan stars from this year – Dubravka and Kenedy – back at the club.

And Rafa has also brought in the very experienced Ki Sung-yueng to replace Mikel Merino who is expected to join Real Sociedad imminently.

Did I say this was good news?

Comments welcome.

He hasn’t got a top gear that would make him really devastating but then Chelsea wouldn’t send him oot on loan either…

I can see why some aren’t as excited about Kenedy as others are.

I always expected this window to be more of the same from Ashley, after Kenedys performances for us last season I’d like to have bought him outright and I believe Rafa would have also.

Rafa knows who Ashley is, once bitten, my reading of the loan deal (I’d expect a clause to buy in it) is that Rafa is wheeling and dealing and saving a buck where he can. I’m hoping in a effort to get a quality foward in.

No way I’d make excuses for Ashley or for his puppets, it would make sense why things are slow moving.

Like most I want a quality foward and I think it would settle everyone’s nerves, if Rafa blew his wad on a foward now it would raise prices on other targets in this window and raise the fans expectations a tad much!

    Ashley out

What are Rafa and Chutney going to talk about after Chutney tells Rafa there is no money and he’s having difficulty selling anyone?

G2, he was one of our better players last season. He was told he would never play for Chelsea anyway, after his little fall out with Conte, so whether he was good enough for them we’ll likely never know.
All we do know, is Rafa’s got his primary target and that has to be worth celebrating. There’s no down side to this signing. He’s good enough for us.

Been advised Kenedy will undergo a medical in the morning and there is a clause included to make move permanent next year #nufc #cfc
Does this mean we have potentially broken our transfer record

This is a disastrous move by Ashley. I can’t see Rafa signing a contract extension after this bollocks of a window unless Ashley caves and provides decent money on top of player sales. Harrumph!

Spot on Bobby. If he was any better we would never have gotten him. That’s the key. He’s excellent but not quite excellent enough to get in the Chelsea lineup.

Great news but only if he has a buy clause at say around £22m. If not we will all be crying when he leaves for big bucks to a top team as we won’t be able to afford him.

OP, my thoughts exactly. A top striker now would probably persuade Rafa to sign…
There can be no excuses either, the money saved on Kenedy must have a plan connected to it judging by how Rafa works.
I think this a clever move by Rafa. He can now surely go after the striker he wants this time?

I’m going out on a limb and going to say that Rafa has something big lined up for us.

Ki to replace Merino = £££ in our pocket
Dubravka in, likely Sels out = zero outlay on finances
Kenedy in on loan with option to buy next season = more £££ to spend this window on strengthening the squad.

Rafa is meticulous in everything he does, I expect to see either a LB or CB to be the next signing so that we have cover for Dummett and a replacement for the outgoing Mbemba, that way we have a squad full of players in every position.

Next step is sell off all the deadwood to top up our finances.

Last and final step would be to sell Mitro if he has a class expensive ST to replace him. One player we haven’t been linked with is Andrea Belotti; Torino were known to be interested in Mitro last year, give them Mitro plus ££ their way and take Belotti off them. (This is a pipe dream I know). MARQUEE SIGNING and a lethal number 9

According to Simon Johnson – Chelsea’s reporter for the Evening Standard – there IS a clause that’s been included in Kenedy’s loan deal which will allow us to sign the Brazilian on a permanent deal next summer.
This comes as a huge relief, meaning we WILL have the option to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent deal once his season-long loan deal expires this time next season.

That would make sense to me you and Barney McGru, what about Ashley though.

A decent foward means decent wages, will Ashley set a higher wage cap?

For us, 20M pounds is like 100M for the top 6. It would a miracle for us to spend it on one player. Even a good striker.

G2. I’ll try again. Conte said Kenedy would not play for Chelsea whilst he was in charge, despite many Chelsea pundits wanting him to be given a chance. So whether he was good enough for Chelsea, we’ll never know. He wasn’t dropped for footballing reasons, it was a disciplinary issue.
As there were a number of top clubs interested in taking him on loan, they clearly thought he was good enough for them. Anyway, we beat Chelsea 3-0 so if he’s good enough for us, he’s, good enough for them. 🙂 🙂

1Some wheeling and dealing by Rafa in this window so far but can’t complain with what we have got so far:

Dubrvaka for 4 million what a bargain !!
KI on a free transfer quality player with experience will offer more than Merino who doesn’t want to be here anyway!
Kennedy with a full pre season under Rafa could be dynamite especially if we have a a permanent clause included in the loan! Means more money available for this season hopefully!!

Out of the main teams around us West Ham are splashing the cash but then they spent big money last season as well but we still finished above them…..

Would love it if we could get Townsend but keep Richie

If that’s right about the option to buy then fantastic news.
Surprised they have let him go with new coach coming in and Real Madrid apparently sniffing around for Willian .
He must have seriously pi$$ed on conte’s chips at some point.
Now for decent striker to convert all these assists.:-)

OP, I’m hoping so and it does look like Rafa is, leading the, way re transfers, so again, we have to wait and see.
A lot of overseas players – even really good ones – don’t earn anything like players here, so not sure wages will be a huge problem tbh.
Looks to me like Rafa’s boxing really clever and without much interference so far. Fingers crossed it stays like that, because if Rafa gets his way then there’s every reason for him to sign that contract.
I know that if anybody can mess this up it is Ashley, but he wants Rafa to sign so who knows? Just kerep sacrificing

That was my whole point earlier mate. If kennedy comes here with an option to buy..Then that shows ambition and intent on both Rafa and Nufc’s part. If it just another loan, Then as much as he will be a great loan signing it just typifies where we are at as a club. Benitez clearly wants the club to back him and hopefully Kennedy coming here hopefully on a permanent next season will be a start of something Rafa can be proud of

This is great news. OK, we haven’t strengthened but we have three guys sewn up and the powder is dry. If we get a good other winger, and striker, we can start making a better assessment then. If we had spent, 20mill on a winger people wud be happier, but that would be foolish. We know Kennedy, and how good he is…. a different player wud be a risk but guys wud be happy if we spent 20 Mill on some unknown French guy.

Speaking of silly money, is it Coutinoh who a French club I believe (PSG?) are trying to buy for 235 million, You could buy quite a few EPL clubs for that sort on money
