Kenedy Deal Held Up – Rafa Says It’s Very Close – And Great News For Newcastle

Still no word from Newcastle about Kenedy signing a season-long loan deal although Sky Sports did report he had passed his medical today.

But the deal is still not done and the Chronicle is reporting it is very close and could be announced today or tomorrow.

It could be that the option to buy – which is crucial for Newcastle – is still being negotiated – maybe on the transfer price.

But without an option to buy Kennedy’s price next summer could skyrocket if Rafa makes him into a better player over the next ten months coaching him.

This year he had just less than four months coaching the Brazilian and you could see the improvement.

Kenedy has so much talent it’s ridiculous, and Rafa had him use his skill to very good use for Newcastle and he worked his socks off in defense too.

Simply put – this lad oozes class.

The 22-year-old listens to Rafa and does what he says.

Kenedy with Rafa Benitez earlier this year

Just think if we had got him in last summer with an option to buy which fell through at the last moment – we could have had a great deal for him then.

But it didn’t happen and we have to move on.

That’s why it’s important for Newcastle to get an option to buy – but perhaps the fee could be the roadblock to the loan deal completing?

Rafa has given an updated in the Chronicle today on the pending Kenedy deal:

“It is great news for us. It is still not done but it is very close to happening.”

“He is a player with quality. You talk about Brazilian players they have quality.”

“He is a nice lad and working hard for the team.”

“So I think it is quite positive for the lads in the dressing room.”

Rafa seems really upbeat there – but until it’s done you just never know.

Experience has shown the fans that at Newcastle over the last 10 years or so.

Comments welcome.

Chutney is now in the process of negotiating a “we get him for free next season because we’re really nice’ clause in his contract. Beautiful Lee. I’ll hold my breath until Chelsea agree to that…

Surprisingly, the “we’re really nice approach isn’t used very often????

Chutney was working on a similar contract for Ronaldo before Juventus rudely interrupted the proceedings! Harrumph!!!

    Jeez Rafa is tireless.

Could you imagine any other NUFC manager other than SBR
    doing this ?

Yes run off and eat your dinner Jib/Jane/Jeff. Then surely it’s time for bed? Possibly a story with Mum if you’ve been good? Not much chance of that…

The rumour mill seems a bit dry again now other than the Lascelles nonsense. Leave us for West Ham? Not likely. He’s better than that.

I continue to be interested in the state of our accounts. We would seemingly have taken in more than 175M pounds this season. Wages are under control and we spend very little on players. So what is Ashley’s intent with possibly as much as 60M pounds left after operating expenses for the season? Possibly the beginning of loan payback time as the sale seems not likely to happen?

    Toon Rich
I know Joel Asoro quite well, a really nice kid and a very good player, would love to see him come to us. His family are here with him and would prefer to stay in South Shields (have sense!!) I think if we made a move he would sign for us, told me last year he would happily come to us, though his Mother said their fans would probably kill him. Only thing is, I think if he moves wherever he will have to battle to get in the team, personally think should stay where he is, make a name for himself this season then move. But if we made a move for him, I’d have a chat with him and his family to tell him it’s all good
