Rafa Benitez has been interviewed in the Chronicle today, and he hints that Newcastle are far too slow in their negotiations for players in the transfer market.
We already knew that, but it’s still a problem this summer with Rafa saying if you are to be successful in the transfer market you cannot waste too much time.
Wasting time is something Newcastle are famous for, and when we cannot agree on a transfer fee for a player with another club, then things can be held in abeyance for weeks or even months.

With a shortened summer transfer window we cannot do that, and Rafa has also said there is still plenty of time to sign players if we do things in the right way.
This is what he has said about this summer’s transfer market which is tough because the prices are so high:
“We can’t talk about players at the moment. We are just working and trying to get closer to some players.”
“It depends on so many things and we can’t say too much.”
“It is difficult because the prices have gone very high for everyone. Some people say: ‘Oh the deadline is the problem’.:
“If you are ready and you do what you have to do there is plenty of time.” “It’s just to be sure when you go for a player you make sure you sign him.”
“You don’t want to waste too much time so you know more or less then you go for it and that’s it.”
Hopefully, we can announce the loan deal for Kenedy today and then we will have Dubravka, Sung-yuen and Kenedy as new signings so far – all good deals for the club.
Now Rafa needs at least one new striker brought in.
And we need to get deals finalized for players like Mbemba, Mitrovic, and others – who will be leaving the club this summer.
There’s still a lot of work to do – both incoming and outgoing.
Rafa stresses Newcastle have to show some speed in doing deals.
He’s right there.
