Report – Newcastle Could Get 10 Times What We Paid For Hayden

The reason Isaac Hayden wants to leave Newcastle is to be nearer his girlfriend and young daughter who are situated in the south-west of England.

That’s a long way from Newcastle.

And news today that Rafa rates the young central midfielder highly and doesn’t want to sell him, but he will if he can get a replacement in before August 9th.

And the Chronicle are reporting that Newcastle could get as much as £10M for the player who we brought in from Arsenal for just £1M two years ago.

Isaac Hayden – wants to be nearer his girlfriend and baby daughter

Of course, Isaac now has much more experience having played 63 games for Newcastle over the last two seasons – roughly divided in number between the Championship and the Premier League.

And there’s no doubt Isaac is an excellent technical player who’s keen to be a better player.

It also shows how much improvement players can make under the guidance of Rafa Benitez.

Brighton are said to be interested in Isaac, and he would do well to join Chris Hughton on the south coast.

And that’s where the fee of £10M comes from with the Chronicle reporting Chris is willing to pay around £10M for the holding midfielder.

It seems the fact Isaac has become a father has changed his thinking a little and that’s not at all surprising.

And the Chronicle has pointed out in February he had this to say on nufcTV:

“Becoming a dad is a massive thing.” “It was definitely a massive ordeal with the birth and it was difficult in December.”

“That month in December and January was difficult.” “It is about managing the off the field things and get on with things on the field.”

“I think I did that well enough, it was a tough time because she wasn’t well when she was born.

“She was in the hospital for nearly two weeks in London so it was difficult to manage the distance and the gap.

“Obviously it was worrying times when you are a dad and your daughter has just been born.”

One solution could have been to relocate the mother and daughter to the northeast.

But they probably dismissed that quickly with the girlfriend’s parents very likely being with their daughter and grandchild in the southwest.

Comments welcome.

On the whole I’m not too bothered about Hayden handing in a transfer request as he was only ever backup at the best of times. However, with the likes of Merino gone, and the need to shift Colback and Saivet looks like that we won’t have enough time to bolster that position.

Rafa making noises in the press about what positions we need to strengthen is the start of his grumblings – he’s pinpointing exactly where we need to strengthen leaving no one in any doubt as to his thoughts – a striker, more attacking options and improvement on the defence. Let’s see if it happens.

    Not football but……

If you haven’t heard, a pro-Trump rally held at the US embassy attracted a crowd of ‘a few dozen’. Meanwhile, thousands take to the streets of Scotland to let him know how much he’s welcomed there.

Meanwhile, Liam Fox, one of the Johnson/ Rees-Mogg/ Farage/ Piers Morgan cheer leading group feels that the anti-Trump demonstrations don’t truly reflect the warmth the UK population feels for Trump. How true!

If I was Rafa I would be making a lot more noise about funds for transfers – what will Ashley do if Rafa says he is being messed around by Charnley et al

Odd these days for players to put in transfer request unless looking to force a move after being denied one. It seems from reporting that Rafa is understanding of his reason ( can’t help but wonder though if he was a regular and Ki hadn’t arrived whether he might have tried to resolve dilemma differently?).

He did well for us in Championship and seems a decent guy so have no problem in him looking to better his situation personal or career wise. He is another who is presumably looking for a regular spot in a side but is struggling for more than a bit part and Ki will provide most cover for Diame and Shelvey if nor replace Diame if his form isn’t consistent.

The transfer request might well be to benefit club ( and speed sale) as I seem to recall that if there is a written request the player forgoes any share of tranfer fee.

I like Hayden, thought he was excellent in the Championship, but then last season he seemed to go into his shell despite starting the season with a string of starts which should’ve give him confidence, I expected him to grow and he shrunk for whatever reason, seemed to be second guessing himself, not as well positioned, too much passed him by and he played it safe with the ball more often than the previous season.

Athletic, loves a tackle, lots of energy and can play a bit too – when Shelvey wasn’t on-song at times in the Champ, Hayden stepped up and made things happen.

These exceptional family reasons may have been ongoing for some time and might have contributed to his regression. Who knows.

£10m seems fair in the current day market, but if he went for £7-8m given the circumstances then fair enough, he did his bit for us and is one of the best representatives off the pitch, involved in all-sorts of local initiatives, knows he is in a privileged profession.

Wouldn’t mind Longstaff being given his squad place, however they’re quite different players.

Doubt Rafa will reintroduce Colback, simply not good enough, if only for his unending daft fouls around our box that so often cost us dearly.

    Stil need:

    Moussa Dembele from Celtic
    Adama Traore
    Erik Pieters

Wonder if Loftus-Cheek will be sold after the arrival of Jorginho at Chelsea… Pushed further down the pecking order as the new Chelsea manager is looking at bringing in an additional midfielder to replace Willian as well.

If he’s leaving to get games his attitude is much better than Colback’s and should be applauded.i’ll repeat what i said about him a while ago. it’s his first season in EPL so he has some improvement to make and he’s exceptionally young for a DM, a position that needs to use game intelliegence etc which comes with age. if he does improve he has all the hallmarks of an England midfielder. i can’t see why he can’t overtake Livermore and Delph etc. If he can improve his backwards passing Southgate will call him up. Good luck.

Why doesn’t the gf and kid move to Newcastle? Hell on his wages he could bring both of their families too!
