Fifth Signing This Summer Likely To Be Announced Tomorrow

Bundesliga club Mainz have said they have indeed agreed a fee to sell their striker Yoshinori Muto to Newcastle United.

Sky Sports have already reported the fee is £9.5M and Muto should be arriving today from Tokyo to have his medical and sign along the dotted line.

We expect if all goes well Muto will be announced as a Newcastle player tomorrow and for £9.5M that’s not a bad deal for the talented striker.

With the Newcastle squad traveling to Portugal tomorrow, they will probably want Muto on the plane if they can get the transfer completed without any hitches.

Yoshinori Muto – on his way to have medical at Newcastle

Here is the statement issued by his German club Mainz:

“The clubs are, as far as the terms of the contract, largely agreed, however, there are around the transfer still time-consuming formalities to be done.”

It looks like we will have our 5th signing announced and it’s our first striker through the door – the top priority for this summer.

So in two days, we will have signed Fabian Schar for £3M from Deportivo and Yoshinori Muto from Mainz for £9.5M.

We also announced today that goalkeeper Matz Sels has left Newcastle and joined French club Strasbourg for £4M – so we almost got our money back on Matz.

Assuming Muto does sign tomorrow, we still have just under two weeks left in the window to bring in more players and sell some of the fringe players no longer needed.

Rafa wants to bring in maybe two or three more players, and we have to move players out of the club like Aleksandar Mitrovic, Achraf Lazaar, Henri Saivet, Adam Armstrong, and Rolando Aarons.

Comments welcome.

Really don’t want to see HBA in a West Ham shirt next season. Come on Rafa, free transfer, no10.

If he’s travelling all the way from Tokyo for a medical I think we can assume it’s serious.

Just to say it’s now been 4,712 days since we last broke our transfer record.

I think Rafa and Ashley are closer than folk think

Señor Benitez has clearly bought into plugging
the brand in Asia with signing KiSY and Muto

Newcastle are getting some great bargains.

I think a DM signing is still required..Diame has been excellent..but he’s 31 & I havent seen Hayden develop like I hoped he would.

Joselu, Mitro, gayle..one of the three will definitely be gone before the window shuts

Not sure how this guy fits us. Good player but more of a 10 than a 9 surely? If shelvey gets hurt……. 🙁

Jail don’t be silly. I can see Rafa is not getting who he wants so no complaints from me. I called out the fair stuff – some of the crap signings and sometimes over cautious tactics. I travelled miles to shake Rafa’s hand. Hell of a job second half of last season but we need more quality

Lukes. Last man standing will, imo, be Joselu.I think Rafa sees him more as a creator of goals than as a scorer, and one to put on to hold out for a result when the paces guys are running out of energy.

Very glad to see the bank account has been unlocked at least, money starting to dribble through.
Come on, let’s see some more!
We need to do a Mitro deal, but don’t think we should take a penny less than £20mil..

Sturaro’s name being bandied about again and now this gossip. Newcastle are now ‘waiting to pounce’ for Belgian international Anthony Limbombe according to The Sun – with the winger’s proposed £11m move to Huddersfield having ‘broke down’.

At thus rate we’ll have two squads time rotate yet alone one

Wake me up when the window ends.

I am happy with Muto, I think he fits the system well but he’s not taking us to the next level.

Add to that the rumours of Gayle having to be used as a makeweight for Rondon and it looks even more poverty stricken.

Unfortunately I fear it will be enough for a lot of fans to accept it and then wonder at the end of the season why Rafa didn’t stay.
