Newcastle have been linked for a while now with Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan.
Bryan has had two good seasons for the Robins, and he’s one of the players who caught Rafa’s eye in the Championship a couple of years ago.
The price tag that’s been mentioned for the 24-year-old is £6M which you would think Newcastle can afford this summer.
The other club really interested in the player is RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
Rafa needs to bring in at least one full-back this summer and Bryan would seem like a good buy for just £6M.
Joe Bryan – Rafa wants him at Newcastle
Other German clubs Augsburg and Mainz 05 are also reported to be interested in the player.
Championship clubs Leeds and Middlesbrough are also interested, but it’s doubtful the Robins will sell to a Championship rival.
Wolves could also go after Bryan if they fail in their attempts to get Manchester City star Oleksandr Zinchenko and news today is the player may want to stay at City.
And Wolves have been free-spending this summer, and you would think £6M would be nothing to them.
Bryan came through his hometown club’s Youth Academy, and it could be a massive opportunity for him to join a club like Newcastle with Rafa Benitez at the helm.
If Bryan doesn’t leave Bristol City this summer he will become a free agent next summer and clubs will be able to talk to him in January.
We are hoping Rafa can persuade the left-sided player to join Newcastle this summer, but it will not be easy.
Comments welcome.
PS – we know there are stories that Newcastle have been priced out of a deal for Bryan at £6M – how can that possibly be true?

So the club supports the local food banks and you laud it for doing so?
It’s the very least it should do.

Comment #163Jib, I think the entire blog would really appreciate it if you just stopped posting snidey digs at other posters constantly. You post so much argumentative, childish drivel on here that the vast majority of people will just scroll past your posts. Just stop it man, anyone who needs so badly to ‘get one up’ on someone online needs to get out more.
