Mitrovic Deal Goes Through – Now What Happens With The Money?

Newcastle have announced that the deal to take Aleksandar Mitrovic to Fulham has been completed.

Sky Sports have reported the deal is worth £22M initially with £5M in potential additional add-ons and that’s a good deal for Newcastle.

Aleksandar Mitrovic joins Fulham – for £22M

This is what the club have announced on their website:

The forward joins Slavisa Jokanovi?’s side for an undisclosed free, bringing an end to his three-year spell at St. James’ Park.

Twenty-three-year-old Mitrovi?csigned for Newcastle United from Belgian outfit Anderlecht in July 2015, going on to make a total of 72 appearances for the Magpies, scoring 17 times.

The Serbia international spent a spell on loan at Craven Cottage during the second half of last season, making 17 appearances and scoring 12 times as Fulham won promotion from the Championship with a 1-0 win over Aston Villa in the play-off final at Wembley.

The club wishes him well for the future.

With the deal having been closed the big question now is whether Mike Ashley will loosen the purse strings a bit to allow Rafa to bring in more players before the deadline of August 9th at 5:00pm when the transfer window slams shut.

Comments welcome.

Trying to look on the bright side as I like the lad mitro but I can’t see us spending it all. Too many years of just hoping and nothing becomes of it. I wish him well

I’ll be interested to read what the payment plan is for this. I remember reading somewhere that Fulham only willing to pay £14m upfront, the rest in instalment. This was way back at the start of summer and can’t find the link anymore.

Are you stupid or what Ed?
We all know that most of the money will go in the fat mans pocket.
Less than two weeks to the end of the widow and the fat man is 35 million in credit. Incredible that our record is 16 million and we are selling a misfit for 27 million. Just goes to show you can buy rubbish for nearly twice our record buy!!!!!!
We will buy a couple of players and a marquee signing for 25 million and the fat man will have paid out 10 million. Probably the lowest in the Premier League.
But it will keep the “fans” happy as if we are the last of the big spenders.
The fans will flock to Sports Direct Arena. Not very clever as always. They are easily duped.
We will stay up, after a right fight, and Rafa will rightly disappear next May. We will be relegated the following season and the fans will ask: whats going on?
You can see this all happening now and its two years away.
Instead of thinking we have had a decent window and flocking to the Arena, we should be supporting Rafa and staying away. Protesting. Thats the only way to keep Rafa here next May. Forcing Ashley out now.

    Ashley’s pocket.

£35m profit this window, plus £123m from last season minus the real loss of about £20m the season we went down, that’s £138m, of which at least £50m should be available. If you’re not going to put it to transfers, put at least £20m towards the training ground and academy and get Rafa signed, get the project going!

Oh sorry, I forgot, Ashley’s not interested in actually having a successful club.

We know what’s coming. When the window slams shut we’re going to get some bollix about Mikey feeling that he was pricing people out with the 400M price tag. He’s now dropping the price to 300M but has had to take money out to do so. The people coming in with the 300M will have signed watertight NDA’s so when any deal falls through we won’t know a thing about why and the cycle continues 🙁

Best of luck to Mitro – never really had his chance here, for whatever reason, so I wish him well. A little scared that he might outscore most of our team next season and come back to haunt us… But glad this is done as Rafa clearly never favoured him.

Where will the money go? Hmm. ‘Every last penny’ were the words Ashley used. If Rolando Aarons is right – and I was wondering the same thing – then we should be able to get 2 more players in. Or pay back some of that loan. Or pay for more Sports Direct signage. Or something. Who knows…

I really rate Origi – despite never getting a run in the team he’s averaged about a goal every 2 games for Liverpool most of which were as a sub. I’d love us to get him but Liverpool will probably want 20m plus which is out of the question for us. In addition, with Rondon and Muto already in the door, I can’t see us getting another striker as much as I would love it.

    Re left backs
If it was a choice between spaghetti and Bryan I’d probably prefer Bryan – better disciplinary record, proven in English football (the championship is probably a similar standard to the eridivisie), is English so would count as home grown, is young and has sell on potential and seems to be cheaper. As spaghetti is not a European national and hasn’t played in the U.K. wouldn’t he need a work permit just like our new boy from the super Mario bros?

    Jail – “the cycle continues”.
Definitely a possibility – Rafa is a bit of a hostage at the moment — working his backside off to improve the team/plus keeping his reputation/pride.

If he succeeds this season – keeping the team up – it can only lead to Mr Tubbs thinking his running of the club is working – ie spend nowt/next to nowt. And the model/cycle will continue.

When the fans turn really anti you can guarantee Miss Stavely will turn up waving at the cameras. SKY might even film the pair of them eating a popadom. A real put up job or what last time around?. We are mugs. In any real buy out, we are the last to know, not the first. Sir John Hall has a massive amount to answer for. He took the silver shilling. God bless Freddie Shepherd. He had the glory of the club at heart. A rich guy but not obscenely rich and not screwing the club rotten. his mistake was he appointed the wrong managers but he backed them in the market.

I wonder if anyone has asked Dwight Gayle if he wants to move to the Baggies? I can’t see any reason why he would want to go there.
I know he dropped down to the Championship to play for us but we were nailed on favourites for promotion and it’s the biggest club he will ever play for and under a manager who is well renowned.
At West Brom, nice little club, manager with zero experience, unlikely to get promoted. On less money (if perm). Why would he agree?

He has got no cash because he is investing all the transfer money and the SKY money in his other businesses.
We made 120 million from SKY in May. Where has it gone? He has made 35 million this summer in transfers/ Where has it gone?
I know he lent NUFC 160 million ten years ago but he has recouped that lots over in the last 10 years.
He will never sell. He makes over 100 million in SKY money every year. Free Sports Direct advertising. Gate money. Sponsorship. etc etc. He must be pocketing 100 million a year. Worst case 50 million. Why would he sell for 300 million. He will leave when he dies.
    STAY AWAY to get rid.
