A Video Worth Watching – Welcome To Newcastle – Fabian Schar

I’ve started to watch a number of things on YouTube these days and here’s something I found yesterday welcoming Fabian Schar to the club – it’s from NUFC comps.

For a fee of  £3M this is another steal by Rafa Benitez and even when he has little to no money to spend under owner Mike Ashley, he is still managing to bring in very good players to the club.

If only Mike Ashley would see the light and give the man some support.

Remember, Rafa literally risked his career by agreeing to manage Newcastle in the Championship and look where we are now.

Fabian Schar talks with Rafa Benitez

Rafa is world-class at what he does and deserves some reward for how he has rescued Newcastle over these last two seasons.

OK, that’s it – I feel a lot better now – having got that off my chest!

🙂

Now back to Fabian Schar – a terrific acquisition for Newcastle United.

Just got a look at a training video, and that was the 2nd time I have noticed that Hayden looks bulked up. As per usual, Hayden was winning everything in the air in training, but definitely looks stronger and more dominant. I am guessing that Hayden will be used primarily as a CB this coming season—if he remains at the club that is.

Hayden has massive potential as a CB, much more than as a DM, in my view.

    Ancient,
That leaves us a DM/M short, still a few bodies to bring in imo.

Don’t think Schar is the quickest on our books but he seems to love a strong challenge…looks like another Rafa masterstroke

I hope so too. Despite having limited game time and massive disruptions to his nufc career due to injury, Lejune has looked really good when he has played.

I really don’t know anything about Schar other than what I’ve read here – can’t really remember seeing him play either.

I agree re Clark – I like him as a decent backup and he’s done a job when we’ve needed him but he’s not great. Let’s hope Schar is good enough to start alongside Lascelles and he’s playing so well by the time Lejune is fit that there’s a battle for that CB spot – a bit of healthy competition bringing the best out of players.

    Every cloud eh…

yeah definitely still need a few. although we’ve done well in the market we haven’t really improved that much from the end of last season. rondon & mutu will be a big step up from what we had last year, but we need at the very least one new player that is in the starting 11 and an improvement on what we’ve got. yedlin, perez, ritchie, dummet are the easiest to upgrade from our first 11.

I for one am not happy if at the end of the window our strikers top out at Muto, Rondon, the Horse and Perez (used again as our makeshift No. 10) and maybe still Gayle or even Arma kept in first team.

Unless Rondon simply wasn’t supported at WBA he’s another Horse and Muto looks another Gayle. We have trouble scoring if that wasn’t bloody obvious enough last year.

I do hope we sign Bryan to push and as cover for Dummett but unless Scharr can step in and replace Lejeune we also need another CB.

A true No. 10 would be nice too but obviously not on the cards.

Simply put Ashley has not been convinced by Rafa to invest in the club, this is a typical Ashley window, and unless the club’s sold by Spring Rafa’s gone from the Toon after his contract runs out.

Earlier this summer someone engaged passionately, but friendly and mannerly, with me that he was convinced Rafa would bring Ashley round, sadly I won that argument.

I predict we’ll stay up finishing anywhere between 10 and 17 and Ashley won’t have any trouble replacing Rafa (be honest – only 20 prem teams a lot of managers want their shot even if under Ashley and even if given a hard time by the fans). Until Ashley’s out we’ll never be challenging for anything but to avoid relegation.

joe bryan and the uruguayan player are the two most exciting names we’ve been linked with. i wouldnt be surprised to see another Asian player come in. there must be a lot under the radar and several korean players looked good enough.

The really sad thing is, The Toon have always been known by the quality of their strikers, now I know Rafa starts from the back, but hey, we’re crying out for another top, TOP striker.

It’s not Ashley’s club, it’s our club, our fathers and grandfathers club. It’s total despair the way it’s currently run.

we’ll probably be to get Mourinho in a few years. he seems incapable of changing his style and football doesn’t stay still for long. if you can’t evolve when the environment changes then you become a dinosaur. how long before he takes a mid table job like Newcastle or Everton? i think he could still have a crack at Bayern, Roma and possibly PSG but thats about it. But not many teams want a defensive manager these days.

No wonder no one wants to buy the NUFC.
There will be a lot more than this at our club.

When is Muto’s international clearance due? If he fails we will be left with the either the mighty hoser and ronseal upfront with perez playing no 10 – defences will be bricking it!

BlacknWhiteBarmy – No worries about the visa paperwork just your everyday bureaucratic delay. He’s an international player fresh off the world cup he’ll get his visa soon enough, surely in time for Spurs fixture.

If we sign Tagliatelle, (doubt it to be honest) then he’d mist likely be the starting LB. This would leave dummet to cover LB and CB while lejunne is out.
