Rafa Benitez is once again frustrated at the Newcastle hierarchy who have not lived up to the promises they have given Rafa since he arrived in March 2016.
But that has not stopped Rafa from guiding Newcastle to two great seasons – getting promoted in first place in the Championship was his first full season.
And then even though Ashley handed Rafa very little money to spend last summer to improve the side, we still finished 10th in the Premier League last season – the second best showing ever since Ashley has owned the club.
Newcastle fans were all hoping that Mike Ashley would reward Rafa with some transfer funds this summer, but he’s received almost nothing.
And we are now struggling to manage the wealth of newly promoted clubs Fulham and Wolves in this transfer window – never mind the other Premier League clubs.

And now on the transfer side of things, there’s news that Salomon Rondon’s release clause of £16.5M ran out at the end of last month so West Brom can demand even more for their striker.
This deal has dragged on and what’s probably happened is the hierarchy did not want to pay £16.5M for a player who could be a free agent next summer.
Again it’s Ashley unwillingness to spend the club’s money that is causing the most recent problems for Rafa Benitez.
But he must now know that unless Mike Ashley sells the club, it’s always going to be this way – it’s been this way for 11 long years.
We know Rafa wanted to lead Newcastle to greater things – but he ‘s simply not getting the support he needs.
In fact, he’s getting the opposite – he’s being obstructed by the owner.
Why Mike Ashley cannot simply spend the money the club must have – we don’t know – other than he’s an obstinate character.
The best we can hope for is that Rafa honors his contract through next June and then he will leave the club.
We just can’t believe Mike Ashley has been so stupid and obstinate since he signed Rafa Benitez.
Rafa’s done everything right – the hierarchy have done almost everything wrong.
And Rafa’s frustrations are starting to boil over.
Who can blame him?
He should leave Newcastle next summer – for his own good.
While the fans definitely deserve to have a manager as good as Rafa Benitez – Mike Ashley doesn’t.
The situation is not good at the moment – and that’s a massive understatement.
