Newcastle Reported In Move For 25-Year-Old French Central Defender

Newcastle United are reported to be interested in signing Toulouse defender Christopher Jullien this summer, according to GOAL.com journalist Robin Bairner.

But with only eight days left in this transfer window if Newcastle are to sign this defender, we will need to move at top speed to get this potential deal done in just over a week.

Newcastle are not known for making any transfer – into or out of the club – easy, simple or quick.

In fact, it’s the opposite.

Everton and Southampton said to be other Premier League clubs interested in signing the center-back.

The 6ft 5ins tall defender joined Toulouse from German club SC Freiburg two years ago and has been capped at the France U20 level.

The fee is said to be around £8.8M which is not much cheaper than the £10M we were asked to pay for Swansea’s Argentina International center-back Federico Fernandez who would seem a better buy for about £1M more.

But that’s not how the Newcastle hierarchy think.

Rafa does need another central defender brought in as cover for the injured Florian Lejeune so we will be linked with center-backs over the next week.

Comments welcome.

If Rafa walks before the season starts we will be in a crisis, not that it matters to much because this time next year we would be in crisis anyway, we could well do a Sunderland.

    The Magpie Group
    ? @TheMagpieGroup

(1/4) Whilst The Magpie Group is still in its infancy, things certainly took a turn last night following Rafa’s quotes. We are currently in the process of arranging a public meeting for all who wish to attend to put across plans. #AshleyOut #NUFC #EnoughIsEnough #IfRafaGoesWeGo

SD Shops – you can obviously protest outside them – no problem there. But blocking them – stopping folk from entering would end up in you being nicked for obstruction. You cannot do it!

Tubbs would not blink if Toon fans protested outside his Newcastle premises – as stated already he has shops nationwide where nobody will be interested in the Toons’ plight.

Kicking off any campaign outside his Newcastle premises – to get photos, press coverage would seem to be a logical step.

Some coverage in the SS transfer feed:

    NEWCASTLE PROBLEMS MOUNTING?

Rafa Benitez’s pleas for money to add to his Newcastle United squad are getting louder – and he made a clear plea to the club’s owner Mike Ashley last night, with barely a week left of the transfer window.

He said: “It’s concerning with the season 10 days away. That should be a wake-up call for everyone (at the club). If we don’t improve everything we will suffer.

“The only positive was the attitude of the young players.”

    WHERE HAVE MAGPIES GONE WRONG?

Newcastle spent some £52m on buys in Benitez’s first season at the club – but they still sold £80m of players that same summer. Even with a summer of spending more than they earned in 2017/18, they have still made a profit of £45m on transfers since he became manager.

Looks like we’re shopping in France again.
Are we back on cahoots with the Mondial agency ?
No doubt someone can check that point.

L’Equipe are reporting Rafa Benitez’s side have entered talks with Lyon about signing Myziane Maolida.

The Rondon saga may seem protracted but if Charnley has spotted that his escape clause has expired and waited for that position then maybe he’s doing his job . Whether or not that means we can get a better deal and sign him is another question.

Martial of MUFC is being fined £180,000 for being absence due to the birth of his kid. Where is Kenedy after the birth of his kid. Shouldn’t he be fined also.

Not seeing any commitment from him, he wasn’t fully fit during the start of his last loan period he will be far worst now.

Jury is out as far as he is concerned.
