Another Player Will Soon Be Leaving Newcastle – For A Fee

The Sun are reporting today that Blackburn Rovers are close to signing local striker Adam Armstrong from Newcastle for £3M.

Adam had a good loan spell earlier this year at Rovers when he scored 9 goals in 21 league appearances to help Blackburn get back to the Championship at their first attempt from League One.

There were several Championship clubs interested in signing Armstrong after he was made available by Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez this summer.

21-year-old Adam Armstrong – on loan at Blackburn earlier this year

And Armstrong will now continue playing for Tony Mowbray who was the Coventry City manager when Adam scored 20 goals in 40 appearances a couple of years ago while on loan to the League One club.

Mowbray also got the best out of the England U21 International at Blackburn earlier this year.

We had hoped local lad Adam would become a first teamer at Newcastle but it seems that Rafa never rated him very highly.

It was just a couple of years ago that fans had high hopes that a local striker could become a Newcastle star, but that’s not how it all turned out.

Adam played 21 times for the Newcastle first team but never managed to score a goal.

We wish Adam all the best in his future career assuming he does move to Blackburn Rovers.

And now it’s up to him to show Rafa he was wrong to let him leave his hometown club.

Comments welcome.

Earlier posts about Everton and their fans confirm what we already know.
They’ve got a huge chip on their shoulder because they’ve got a League One Ground.
We dumped Fat Sam on them and please note he’s non returnable.
We’re a one City club and the only game in town.
They’re playing second fiddle to a bunch of scallys.
On a par with the Mackems, no class.

Ashley is destroying our club. What can we do to rid the cancer from our club?

A huge mass scale protest has to go on and we need to stand up and drive him out of our club.

All these hashtags stuff is pure nonsense and Ashley must be laughing at it as he doesn’t care.
    something else has to happen.

    Rafa,
Please continue your whinging! Do not listen to those that tell you to go quietly and take it up the wazoo without a peep. When you voice your frustration and concern, you are voicing the fan’s concerns! You are giving a voice to the voiceless and speaking truth to power!

So whinge on Rafa!!! Ashley Out!

Sorry re-post can’t keep up with Ed 😉

Nicky, Yorky and Sutty are WUMs. That’s my conclusion.

Nicky believes Ashley would be handing fistfuls of cash to Rafa is only Rafa signed a new long term contract. He writes that but provides no reason for why anybody should believe it other than that he wrote it.

Sutty echoes that and adds that Rafa is the problem because he isn’t being a good professional and should just shut up and do his job or quit. He writes that without mentioning that Ashley can fire Rafa at anytime if he is unhappy with his employee.

Both ignore the fact we know nothing about the contract negotiations so there’s no reason to give any credence to their assertion Ashley would hand over cash for transfers if a contract was signed. In fact, for all we know this the reason Rafa won’t sign, Ashley may be unwilling to put in writing any agreed budget for transfers and training facilities.

Both also conveniently ignore that Ashley’s penny pinching this transfer window is in perfect keeping with all his past transfer windows under Rafa and other managers with the exception of a brief splurge (if you can call it that because it was only a splurge by Ashley standards under Macca).

Both also conveniently ignore Ashley’s treatment of KK, Hoots, even Pards. In fact, Pards is the person Sutty would have Rafa emulate, no public statements of any kind asking for more investment by the owner just do what you can but to be fair it was clear he wanted more cash and it was fans forced him out, just what Ashley (and apparently Sutty) likes a yes man who takes the fall for Ashley’s decisions.

Being WUMs all I ask is for someone to let me know. Do they post on here regular or do tey only pop-up to defend Ashley? Trying to figure out if they are Sunlun supporters, Ashley apologists are just head-in-sand true Toon supporter types?

    Another quick repost

Lesh if you are still here I can explain Ashley’s “business model”.

Ashley is a known gambler. He doesn’t mind risking relegation, we know this based on past experience, 2 relegations and last year’s January transfer window another fine example. To Ashley, NUFC is a fun year to year gamble.

However, Ashley is a businessman too, he is willing to risk relegation and lose the tv money because the tv money is not guaranteed, it’s not money in his pocket now. Only after we stay up. So year on year he risks relegation by under investing in the club because if we stay up he gets the tv money and if we go down he can see if we come back up at first try and if not he can always sell-up.

From his point of view, if he invests in the club he’s risking real cash that is lost if we don’t stay up whereas if he lays out just enough to remain competitive with bottom half sides it’s an interesting bet with a nice upside (tv money and advertising for SD) for a small wager and if we go down it’s a small bet lost with a chance he can come back up and be back at the table or pack it in, sell and call it a day.

There are very few businesses where you can do this. Wager a little to win a lot and if you lose walk away essentially even.

just not getting this Rafa’s to blame argument at all
Ashleys been the owner for 11 turbulent years 2 relegations and a lot of poor football
Rafa’s wanting to improve the club the playing staff the facilities and general improve the relationship between the club and the city ahd he’s to blame.

unlike some of the so called fans on here Rafa doesn’t have the mile wide yellow streak running down his back he sees Ashley for the megalomaniac he is and is prepared to stand up to him unlike some of the Ashley arse lickers on here

Sad to see Arma go (if this is correct) without every getting a real run out as late sub on 1st team.

Now let’s assess out strikers: Muto, Gayle, Horse and Perez (who basically plays at 10 so not really a 9). Just not good enough unless one of them really surprises in a big way. Going to need Kenedy, Atsu and co (even Lascelles who was our leading scorer at times last season) to really chip in.

Are we seriously linked with any strikers?

    Munster,
Who is the dross signed by Rafa that the club is trying to ship out. I asked Jesper this the other week and he changed the subject.

This is one of these fun ones Jail keeps leaving where he showcase his difficulty in paraphrasing others and try to see if he can set at trap for you…classic Jail 🙂

It was explained to Jail that we have players we cannot shift some bought by Rafa some bought before him…the the main issue is they need to be shifted to bring in new players…

…preferably without taking a loss all the time…

This question kept being asked by Jail regardless of the answer…and then comes the trap trying to see if he can you to look like an Ashley apologist…boring as always!

To those that say something like “Rafa is just mad or not signing an extension because he is not getting what he ‘wants’”, I’d offer this one correction:

“Rafa is just mad or not signing an extension because he is not getting what was ‘promised’”.

Not only is he not getting every last penny of what the club generates, he is not getting even the profit being generated on net sales of players.

    Fat greedy bastard oot!

This is Rafa’s last season lads..can you imagine how we are going to feel when it gets round to May and he’s gone ?

We will know why and resign our selves to the fact the club is going nowhere under the owner we have had inflicted upon us .

We might even be Relegated at the end of the coming season

Rafa will think , I love the City, I love the Geordie’s and their passion I love the club and want it to be the best it can be but I can’t deliver for them with my hands tied and massive financial constraints placed upon the club .

His bottom line will be ..I have not spent all my years in Football to be second rate ..how many years have I got left ? I Cannot waste those years.

He will ask himself that question.

He will leave us and still dream like all of us what might have been.

Adios Rafael , You were the best .

What I’d like to hope is that when ( and I do mean when ) Rafa leaves, that the next manager, whoever he may be, is not subjected to the same abuse that previous managers working for Ashley have had to put up with.
The experience we’ve had with Rafa has surely shown that under Ashley we can never expect anything resembling success from even the best of managers, and that any and all abuse has to directed fairly and squarely at the owner.

Either Ashley is knocking £50m off the loan or the next manager should have a £100m warchest next season, otherwise Ashley’s lying about letting the club run itself. My guess is it’s 50 off the loan. He’d have been annoyed when nobody met his valuation and if he doesnt do it now all the extra sky money will be swallowed up by all the players getting bigger wages. Also the last TV was smaller, so we’ve reached the peak, the bubble is about to burst. Now is the time to get out if youre a chairman.

If I was Rafa and the window ends like it is now, I’d walk. A poor season will dent Rafa’s reputation a bit. I think he could still get a Bayern, Milan type of job, but it seems he has had enough of the big clubs that only give you one year to coach someone else’s squad. He’s invested three years in this project of his so I imagine his preference would be to stay. Let’s hope Ashley drops his asking price.

    Really

I’m confident that as you say, Bishop’s hired freelancers to work from home and posting pro-Ashley or supposedly scenario visualising comments. It’s not rocket science if they’re given some lines to take (as they say in PR).

There’s been a number of recently appeared posters who seem to be way out of kilter with most fans’ thoughts about Ashley’s mis-management if the club and his treatment of Rafa

Add their sudden appearance to the Mirror’s totally unreasonable piece and we can be sure Bishop’s doing his bit for Ashley.

No, it’s not paranoia – think about the way that pro-Trump and Brexit campaigns were influenced by social media and targeted campaigning.

And, as far as Mbabu et al are concerned, there’ll be more we’re after but, well well, couldn’t get them over the line.

I don’t think Rafa will walk after the transfer window closes regardless of who we do and do not sign. He’s too honourable to walk out on the players who he just sold Newcastle to, telling them his wishes and dreams of where he wants to take the club. He just doesn’t seem like that kind of bloke at all.

I think he’ll see out his contract and maybe hope that Fat Ash sells the club (he won’t).

He had the vision of a project – which under Tubbs will never materialise – why waste more years of his life knowing that any dream will never be fulfilled.
