Sorry To See This Local Lad Leave Newcastle – Profit Now Up To £26M

Adam Armstrong has now completed his permanent move to Championship club Blackburn Rovers today after it was reported the move was close to completion over the weekend.

It’s sad to see Armstrong leave because just a few years ago there was the great promise he could come through the ranks and be a Newcastle first-teamer after playing well for all the England Youth teams.

But it wasn’t to be and in the last two years – as other local youngsters before him – he has failed to make the grade at Newcastle.

Adam Armstrong in action for Blackburn this year

The deal is for about £1.5M with add-ons going up to £3M depending on how well he performs at Blackburn, which is an excellent club for him to join.

The 21-year-old was very successful at Blackburn in the second half of last season and scored 9 goals in 21 appearances for them.

It’s just a pity he couldn’t have made it on Tyneside, but we wish Adam all the very best in his future football career.

That takes the Newcastle profit for this summer up to £26M – so much for supporting Rafa financially this summer.

It didn’t happen and we will not spend one penny (net) this summer – what’s going on?

Here are all of our major transfers in and out this summer – so far – and it excludes loan fees and agents’ fees.

Hi guys – it’s the time of the season you’ve all been waiting for – Predictions! I’ve decided to keep it the same as last year despite some suggestions on when will Rafa leave!!
    So the categories are:

    Final League Position
    Final Number of Points
    League Cup Round (2 – Entry, 7 – Final)
    FA Cup Round (3 – Entry, 8 – Final)
    Player of the Season (Blog)
Top Goal Scorer (League & Cup)
Number of Goals for TGS (League & Cup)

Could you please put my name in your predictions so I can find them easily – I’ll run this until Saturday Morning so if you want to wait until the Window closes – no problem 🙂

Writing was on the wall for Arma in our championship season! Had preseason with Rafa, played heavily I remember and then they chose to loan him out, despite the fact our system revolved around the pace of Gayle and we had no back up. Really told us that Rafa didn’t feel he was good enough. Also at Bolton and Barnsley they took him as a striker at both and shunted him out wide after 5 or 6 games because he wasn’t performing. Can go on to have a good career, but I do feel for once the club have evaluated him thoroughly and trust their judgement that hes not going to break through as a premier league striker at Newcastle

    Repost – Ed’s motoring today!

Rafa’s wisely chosen words speak volumes.

‘In this case I was thinking we could deliver something especially after one year, finishing 10th in the league and now we will try and stay in the Premier League – our main target.” And after finishing 10th, this season’s main target is to stay in the Premier League. Our main target? Other clubs and successful businesses build on success but not where Ashley’s concerned.

Yes, Rafa’s sailing close to the wind with his criticism of Ashley’s ways but it’s unlikely Rafa’ll be sacked – that would vindicate his stance and draw a lot of unwanted attention from the media which is now openly questioning Ashley’s approach to NUFC, Rafa, the fans and greed – money at any price. Ashley’s receiving a lot of negative media attention whereas Rafa and his crusade seems to be receiving media support. Maybe the media’s seen Bishop’s pro Ashley campaign for what it is – lies and anti-Rafa spin.

Rafa’s preparer to withstand the pressure Ashley’s nelson on to him and will, if allowed to, continue until the end of the season. He’s fighting for NUFC to deliver the success that its fans crave for. He’s fighting our battle – get and stay behind him; anything less and he’ll have been betrayed by the very fans he’s fighting for.

Another toon trainee falls at the first hurdle, unfortunate for the young lad but he’s still got a bright future ahead, hope somebody had the sense to put a boy back clause or at least a decent sell on fee, good luck to the lad hope it works out for him at Blackburn

    Re House of Fraser.
Ashley has cooled on the idea over fears the pensions regulator could get involved, the Sunday Times reported.
Although it’s schemes are well funded, any takeover would need the approval of the pensions regulator and the pensions protection fund.
    ***********
Good job pensions are well protected and regulated.
Pity we don’t have a regulator to protect football supporters.

Rafa claims his Newcastle players are 100% as frustrated as he is with club owner Mike Ashley’s failure to invest in new signings. Benitez has warned that without four signings this week another season fighting relegation awaits.
” They want to have better players around because they have more possibilities to win,” benitez said.

    From todays Mail.

” If they trust us, give us the tools, we will deliver”

Sorry, if bits of that are old news.
Make of it what you will.

A few days ago someone on here said they had bumped into Hayden. He said the club was a shambles. Seems to fit in with the above.

Hope arma’s contract has a buyback/sell-on clause included, never know what player he could be in 3/4 years time, I mean look at Kane he went out on loan spells around the same age.
