Good News – Florian Lejeune Has Successful Knee Surgery

Newcastle United have announced via their website that French center-back Florian Lejeune has undergone successful knee surgery to repair a tear of his anterior cruciate ligament.

Florian picked up the injury during training – how unlucky can you get!

It’s not unusual that no timescale for recovery has been given by the club but it will probably be several months before he can return to training.

Let’s hope Florian Lejeune is back soon – doing this

This is what Rafa has said about the situation:

“I was speaking with Florian before and after his operation.”

“The doctor says it has gone well and he seems to be in good spirits.”

“I join everybody at the club in wishing him a speedy recovery.”

Players can return from ACL in maybe as little as six months but more serious injuries can have the player miss the whole season.

We join Rafa in wishing Florian a very speedy recovery – he will be sorely missed in the Newcastle team.

Comments welcome.

I fear we may run into a squad problem and motivation will be a part of it but not for lack of it as opposed to how it is is channeled.

Since the squad now fully realizes Ashley wont back Rafa’s ambition and Rafa will leave if the club isn’t sold; they may begin to channel their ambition away from Rafa’s vision and try to shine as individuals (to attract the attention of other clubs) as opposed to into fulfilling their role under Rafa’s gameplan. When key members of the squad become more focused on getting out of the club than playing their part that can quickly infect the squad and become ruinous. Just think of the likes of Moussa Sissoko.

It can make it impossible for Rafa and Lascelles to “hold” the dressing room and can lead to top players refusing to do what it takes for the club to succeed if the role demanded of them in any way diminishes their individual prospects. If the likes of Kenedy, Rondon and Shelvey go from playing as part of a cohesive unit to playing selfish the team prospects are done for… you see it every year in teams that are relegated and I’ve played secondary school ice hockey (but that’s high enough a level) to see what happens when the coach and captain lose the locker room and players begin to play selfish. The locker room becomes poisonous, players try to do too much on their own… they may show their talent but the team under-performs and can fall apart.

That’s the real danger, not lack of ambition, but selfish play and Rafa losing the locker room. He’s a great mgr, the best we’ve had since Sir Bobby, but can he hold a locker room where nobody expects him to be there next season?

If we need a defender fo cover, does anyone think Craig Dawson would be worth a purchase for say 10 Million, he has the premiership experience and is only 28, he also scores goals from corners and free kicks, so an asset in front of goal too.

Last I heard Harry Kane hadn’t even returned to Spurs training after the World Cup so surely he’s unlikely to feature in the opening game?

This article prompts 2 thoughts. One is Ashley is likely thinking he paid too much for Lejuene, and should not risk injuries by having preseason games. Second, I wonder if the “bonus” dispute is a way to pull the players together by fighting for fair treatment? In my heart I know MA would like to have no bonus, just an hourly rate based on minutes on pitch. But if the players unite, and get their bonus, they will make MA more money by finishing higher up the table.

    Wow Beattie did a Cameo.

Where’s all the other regulars who stopped posting, there’s a few views I’d like to hear.

After seeing Beatties post it had me thinking, why hasn’t some journalist tried to interview Keegan?

Was he gagged after winning his case?

Keegan spoke many times after winning the case. Heard him myself a few times, on beIN. He mainly blamed the in-between people…

Yes, noticed the cameo myself 🙂

Many ex-posters have disappeared. I’ve reduced the posts myself. Checking it out a bit more now as the start of the PL is hotting up.

I saw & spoke to Keegan in May at Alea Casino in Nottingham, he was doing an “evening with” event. He had a few things to say about Ashley but nothing that didn’t come out at the time.

BeeGuy, the bonus shenanigans is probably to distract the fans so that we don’t notice they haven’t actually bought anyone decent! “We might not have bought anyone but look how united our current squad are sine nice Mr Ashley & lovely Mr Charners sorted out their ever so generous bonus”
