Newcastle Make Last Ditch Effort To Sign Left Back – Success Unlikely

There’s news coming from le10sport that Newcastle United have been linked with a last-minute move for AS Monaco left-back Jorge.

The Brazilian left-back is available and Rafa Benitez desperately wants a left back brought in with all other options not coming to any fruition.

The 22-year-old has played once for Brazil and both Brazil U20 and U23 youth sides.

We suppose Newcastle want him on loan with an option to buy but the deal is called complicated.

AS Monaco’s Brazilian left-back Jorge

The report may not even be true and if the deal is complicated with just two hours left in this window – forget it – it’s not going to happen.

But Newcastle may also want to agree something for January, if not today – and that reduces the risk of Paul Dummett being inured to only half a season.

Jorge moved to Monaco for €8.5M in 2017 from Flamengo and he looks a decent enough player.

Rafa was after PSG’s Stanley N’Soki but that potential deal fell through yesterday when the player decided he was too young at 19, to join the Premier League.

Rafa is not going to be pleased if a back-up left back is not signed in the next 105 minutes – but it looks extremely unlikely we will be able to sign Jorge.

Comments welcome.

Personal note – I’m off to see the specialist for a few hours – hope we can get a left-back in!

I think Fernandes is a great signing because at least we know he’s a decent player at this level. For all we know Schar could flop massively and that would leave us with Clark who is nowhere near good enough.

Aye ya probs ryt about perez he basically just needs to put a different shirt on in the morning and hes clicked a signing on fee!…the point i was trying to make is ashleys bollicks and constant bad press doesn’t make newcastle a very attractive move for any player…i doubt we will sign anybody now with the exception of the swansea lad…but even that hasn’t been agreed fully so could still gan tits up!

Rafa’s a gent in the same way as SBR (who we sacked), he won’t walk away. Honour and all that, sadly missing with some of the coaches these days (yes Jose, I’m talking about you).

    SSN:

Federico Fernandez has arrived on Tyneside for his medical ahead of his move to Newcastle. Swansea and Newcastle are close to agreeing a £6m transfer for the defender.

This surely won’t happen as we would experience the same work permit issues as the other Brazilian kid? We should have got tagliafico or riedewald.

Rafa will stay. He has too much loyalty to his players and to the fans to walk out now. He will just get his head down, refuse a new contract and leave at season’s end having probably kept us up.

What happens after that will be the pure implosion of Newcastle United. I would be willing to bet you haven’t ever and won’t ever see a club fall apart so rapidly – apart from Leeds maybe but that was primarily financial.

I honestly don’t think Rafa would agree to have a clause like that in his last year and if someone did really want him as a manager they would have no issue paying that anyway !!

He must be raging though turning down West Ham as he probably thought Ashley was going to keep promises only to be lied to AGAIN!!

Its such a strange situation normally if a manager does well they get bonuses and given funds to take the club forward ……

I gave up my ticket, plenty others on here have to.

I can’t see why any fan can’t miss one game that’s on tv!

It won’t hurt The Dark Lord financially but when sky is on the phone complaining of no atmosphere at televised games he’ll listen.

If it happens for a few home games that are televised how long until the broadcasters decide Nufc aren’t worth the same cut of the tv money as other clubs and stop televising Nufc as much.

He’s not spending the tv money so it won’t affect the club. Empty seats will show the level of pain the fans feel and it’ll be seen and spoke of all around the world and questions will be asked.

I’m not not would I ask anyone to bin their season ticket, I know how hard it is. One game in the scheme of things is nothing, every player and Rafa know the fans are 100% behind them, I guarantee they’d understand the fans stance!

good post, I think instead of a few giving up season tickets why not protest for there to be a strike from the fans at one of the games and hope nobody goes. An empty stadium on 1 game would send a massive message

to put a negative spin on everything the club
    does.
Belfast is winning at the moment calling an
Argentinian international with nearly 120 games
in the PL – 14 CL games – a player picked up from
    the relegation scrap heap.

I think a strike on the Man U game on the first of January would send a big message. If the fans were willing to boycott the game on the opening day of the transfer window at one of the biggest games of the season it would hopefully make people listen

Optimistic Panda@23 – I think more realistically is ask fans to take their seats 10 mins after kick off – this would be just as effective in that the stadium being empty for the first 10 mins. I think most fans would be agreeable to that rather than miss a whole game.

Good luck with the specialist Ed.

On the football front why do we try to wrap everything up in hours – its not as though we are not aware of the window closing – or for that matter the list of players Rafa wants (or at least the positions). CB has come about due to an injury yet we seem to be desperate to fill that position even though LB, AMC has needed cover for some time.

    toonces,
i think i suggested maybe ashley is holding money back for the next manager/ chairman. yes the next manager might have liked mitrovic, but as far as a new chairman goes he/she doesnt care if we’ve got mitro, he just cares that he is seen to be splashing the cash. so if NUFC is worth 300m and ashley now goes and buys 100m of players and asks for 400m that seems logical. but the new chairman would rather ashley sold 50m and reduced the asking price to 250m so he can then go and spend 150m on players and appear to be the saviour. both scenerios are exactly the same to the fan and to the club, but the new chairman doesnt look like billy big b*llocks in option one. therefore it is much easier to sell with a threadbare squad that needs rescuing. assuming the price is reduced accordingly.
