Rafa Benitez went out of his way to try to get some unity at the club yesterday after a transfer window in which the club didn’t spend any money at all in net terms.
In fact, we made a profit of around £20M – but with loan fees and agents’ fees included in the figures the profit will be less than that – but it’s still a sizable profit.
One problem that was solves last week was the players’ bonuses for the season and we had the same type of disagreement last summer.
Rafa Benitez – in training this summer
Rafa has addressed the bonus saga and said this yesterday:
“There were days where they were a little bit unfocused but now it is sorted out they are focused,”
“I can tell you that some of them, watching the training sessions, they were suffering because they wanted a solution.”
“After that, they were fine.”
“You can change the motivation of players in one minute. As soon as it is done, that is it. You forget.”
“I am happy because now they are focused. That is it. I could see against Braga, my players were not really focused, for different reasons.”
“But you have to focus on football.”
It’s all about football now and if we can get a win today against Spurs that will be an excellent start to the season.

Comment #1Having lived through this minor episode it would be slightly nice to know what the resolution was.

Comment #2Mockery should not be confused with hatred. What is confusing is words of hatred being used as mockery.

Comment #3Due diligence. It’s a phrase some love to use on here.
Last Oct/Nov we were told it would cost half a million and take Amanda Stavely 5-6 weeks.
Really. What about House of Fraser. The opportunity came up last week, he’s bought it this week.
and that is a company with 17,000 employees and pension obligations to go with it.

Comment #4We may not get rid of him until NUFC drop out of the Prem.
Deprived of the TV money and a club costing him money.
Essentially in administration.
He’d sell for 60 million. At that level there really would be interest and a number of potential buyers.

Comment #5Posanda Ashley isn’t bothered about due dilligence, he didn’t even bother when he bought us. All he’s gonna do is pump a little bit of cash he’s milked from us then 2 years down the line house of Fraser will be worth double. This is a business he knows, he’s done this with lots of shit clothing company’s he just doesn’t know anything about running a great football club. We all have fingers, toes and whatever else crossed he gets rid this year, but if I had a big fat cash cow in my back yard I wouldn’t sell it either .

Comment #7Ashley is turning major profits out of us. I wouldn’t say he doesn’t know how to run a football club, he chooses to run it in this manner.
Ashley Out!
