It really does look like Henri Saivet will spend the season on loan at Turkish club Bursaspor.
According to Turkish newspaper, Olay, Saivet passed his medical in Turkey yesterday and a loan fee of £900K has been agreed between Bursaspor and Newcastle.
The signing is expected to be announced imminently and Saivet will then take part in training at his new club.
Henri Saivet – on loan to Turkish club Bursaspor
Saivet’s contract at Newcastle lasts until the summer of 2021 and he is not part of Rafa’s plans for the future.
So if we cannot sell him permanently then Newcastle will loan him out until his contract ends.
Saivet was signed during the calamitous Steve McClaren tenure of 9 months just before Rafa Benitez joined the club on 11th March 2016.
Saivet has made only six appearances for the Newcastle first team.
Here’s the state of the transfers so far in this window.
|Ki Sung-yueng||Free agent||Swansea|
|Martin Dubravka||£4.0M||Sparta Prague|
|Salomon Rondon||Season loan||West Brom|
|Transfer Fees paid out||£22.5M|
|Mikel Merino||£10.0M||Real Sociedad|
|Jack Colback||Season loan||Nottingham Forest|
|Dwight Gayle||Season loan||West Brom|
|Henri Saivet||Season loan||Bursaspor|
|Transfer Fees into club||£43.0M|
|Net Spend||-£20.5M (profit)|
We haven’t included loan fees or agents’ fees in the transfer table but it looks like loan fees coming in could balance out the loan fees being paid for Kenedy and Rondon.
Rondon’s loan fee is £2M and we got nothing for Dwight Gayle’s loan – other than West Brom pay his wages.
