I was at the game today and looking over the comments thinking if I’ve seen the same game? First half we were good I thought, had opportunities to create good chances but through a lack of quality, messed it up. We ‘had a go’ as many wanted yet didn’t manage to score. So perhaps it’s like I have said previously, it’s not about tactics but about QUALITY. We have a squad lacking in quality yet people want us to beat, dominate and boss for 90 mins top teams like Arsenal.

I thought tactics were spot on personally, but everything changed after the free kick. Stupid foul to give, like wtf! Scored a great goal and we couldn’t get in the game properly. Tried to do something, left space got exploited. 2-0. Then it was comfortable for Arsenal really.

Very frustrating really as before the first goal Arsenal didn’t look like creating anything.

Repost because Ed MUST HAVE ANTS IN THE PANTS.
Now for some home truths, Perez, why does Rafa feel he deserves a spot in the team, honestly and I know some will say he runs his socks off but so would Usain Bolt if he played for Newcastle. Let’s also stop the Josey experiment, I didn’t want to mention this but Josey better than Mitro? Also and sorry to be so negative but Rafa has to first stop the Spanish experiments and stop this defensive bullshit, I would prefer to lose 3 – nil if we actually look like a team that could score and also look like a team that might win, but we don’t look even close, our goal came from a defender crossed by a defender? How does Rafa leave Shelvey and Rondon on the phucking bench?
I wish Rafa would just go with a 4-4-2 always and just go for broke, yes I know as Rafa says we had to be so defensive? The question, did we really have to be? Sorry, but we look like Sunderland in disguise at the moment and that makes me feel like shite!!!

ILoveToon with his standard matchday prediction, 4 nil defeat.

Not only that but to then complain for losing 2-1.

Got to admit, you are consistent.

Posters suggesting Rafa to leave have really lost their heads.

    Using Jails logic

What’s the point of changing the manager, same old same old.

so what’s the point of changing owner? unless you personally vet the next guy or interest driven group, what’s the point. who know who we might get.

and no your not right, all athletes are not born winners, their just athletes. winners are born winners, some people just like to compete. I see it in every sport, and it really bad once they earn money, because then they have made it, job done.
for every one messi il show you 100 obertans, for every Ronaldo, 100 alan pardews. Mike Tyson KK Tiger woods winners.
Mike Ashley is a winner, because he is relentless, I hate the guy, but at asset stripping, he is great at it.

and your nice reply from the corrupt politician, claiming thousands in expenses, not a nice thing to do, just as corrupt as Ashley.

Nost u cant play 442 with a crap midfield. U need 2 really mobile technical midfield to play 2. Last time it worked for us we had tiote and cabaye on fire. Shelvey and especially diame arent fit to lace their boots. Cabaye and tiote were 2 of the best tacklers we ever had that season we finished 5th. After that they got too pardewed

i think rafa is shit but think we shoulg give him benefit of doubt until boxing day when we play liverpool. Up until then the 12 or so games we have apart from man utd away we should compete. If we are shocking until Boxing day and bottom 3 then we should make a proper judgment on rafas style of play and what on earth he does on the training pitch. I have no idea what he did with this team during the past 2 weeks as these players need a million touches to get ball under control no one touch precise passes

For me it wasn’t who he had on the bench, but more of who he started with, Straight away he has sent A team out not to really do anything.

we had 2 attackers from how I see us, Ritchie and Yedlin.

Perez had 16 touches of the ball in 90 mins. Murphy had 47% pass completion , with Joselu not much better, we might as well as player with 8 men.

Rafa starts with a poor team hopes they will not concede then brings on better players much much later in the game. and regardless how poor some player play, he refuses to take them off.

    he has lost the plot,

I am worried that the Gaffa is in cahoots with the fat slug and playing his part to stop the fans walking away.
Hope not but 6 mill a year is a lot of money for a bit of acting.
We have had the hardest start to the season though.
I never expected Rafa to join our shambolic club in the 1st place and was overjoyed when he did so.
But here we are with the slug still shafting us and Rafa still getting paid fortunes to keep us in the P/League.
Honestly when i looked at the opening fixtures i thought we would struggle and a point at Cardiff is all i expected to be honest.
Lots of people were expecting miracles to happen after finishing 10th.
After years following the Toon and being disappointed so often i just come to expect the worst.

Rafa is past his sell by date. Accept it. No top team wants him. 6 million buy out clause. Peanuts when an English team will spend 70 million on a goalie.
Rafa is on 6 million here and will not get that money anywhere else. Thats why he is staying.
The fact he will play crap Spanish players before anybody else and a chronic defensive style against top teams which always loses s now beyond a joke. Going down but Cashley does not mind. The next muppet will be given 80 million to get us up. The hordes will keep going. Nothing changes at the toon.

Ashley is the only person to blame for the mess . Cmon let’s be honest , the two positions we are totally lacking any quality in is an Alan Shearer up front and a peter Beardsley . Rafa should have been given the money to fill those positions and he wasn’t . If he had been able to secure those signings, we would never be in this position we are today . 2 positions , 2 quality players and we would be top half without a doubt . Unless raffa can secure those two positions in January , we are down and I’ll put my house on it . So yes it is Ashley’s fault , every single bit of it ,

Bishop has steered Ashley and Sports Direct through a series of scandals in the past couple of years, including the Guardian investigation which led to Tuesday’s inquiry, Ashley giving his daughter’s boyfriend a cushy job, and an alleged lawsuit against the Sports Direct founder for apparently reneging on a £15 million bet made in a London pub after a “considerable amount of alcohol” had been consumed.

If they blame The Slug why dont they voice their opinions at the match instead of sitting in silence.
Doing what they do now is not helping the teams performance in any way.
Just walk out when the Ref blows the 1st whistle.
Now that would create a stir would it not.
Take some action please to bring this to a head and make the Fat Slug sell up.

Due to circumstances beyond my control I wasn’t able to watch any NUFC games at all last season, so this one is the first I’ve seen of a few players at the club. Can’t say I’m too impressed with Dubravka, and Kenedy looks to be complete rubbish. Surprised they seem to get such high praise. (Joselu is pretty much exactly what I expected)

A few hours after the game and I’m still upset – that was the poorest Arsenal team I’ve seen for a few years yet we weren’t good enough to take advantage! Is it me or should Debravka have stopped their second goal? Head plenty time to set himself and the shot went through him!

I see it’s started again. Blame it on Rafa. He brought in fairly average of lower players because he didn’t have the money to do better. Players like Hoser Loo were bought on a shoestring budget so that’s the quality you get with a pinhead for an owner. I am concerned now. We don’t have enough with fighting spirit like Ritchie. And why have Shelvey on the bench and not use him unless he’s unfit to play? Strange. We just have no depth whatsoever. Why leave Perez on and give Muto 10 minutes. Perez has been poor so far this season. Get him out of there. These are tactical complaints but it doesn’t mean Rafa is a poor manager. We just have an extremely poor, thin squad. End of.

I wasn’t at the match. I struggled to follow the progress online because I was at the Málaga match – watching then beat Córdoba 3-0. It was like watching NUFC Under 23s beating Gateshead, but we won and it was fun. And I was in shorts and t-shirt for an evening kick off.

Reading the matchday posts tonight, however, was to witness the usual doom-mongers panicking over the season’s result on the basis of our play against yet another top 6 side. Let’s face it, Arsenal are better than us. Look at the value of the two squads and stop pretending that Rafa’s coaching skills will more than make up the difference. And stop whingeing.

The worst offenders, as usual, were RUNAWAY777, Aces-of-Eights, SUTTY1978, ilovetoon8788, beefman13, kimbo, jimiley, jarra mick, Bladey and, of course, catchy plus a couple of newcomers, Stewin’ Toon and Tuttelbom. Shame on you all. Call yourselves supporters? Don’t kid yourselves.

What is wrong with you all? Rafa tried to win this match. Sometimes it just doesn’t work. We don’t know why he picked that line-up, though we know he is suspicious of players fitness when returning from international duty and he will do his very best to protect players returning from injury. He did his best to win!

So please keep your anti-Rafa, anti-Newcastle knee-jerk reactions during the match to yourselves or at least have the decency to apologise for your inappropriate outbursts after you have calmed down (I.e. finished your tantrums).

There were, thankfully, the usual few measured (if equally disappointed) posters among the dross – thanks to Bambams, Nufc-83, jane, the white tino, stuart no9, Moonraker15, ronaldo aarons, Harley and stan anderson
