Ben Dawson Delighted With Newcastle Youngsters

Newcastle U21 coach Ben Dawson was delighted with the big win last night for his team as they went to Notts County in the Checkatrade Trophy and came away with an excellent  2-0 win.

The goals came from Callum Roberts though a penalty in the first half and Elias Sorensen in the second half.

That’s two wins in two games in Group G for the lads.

Our final game in the group is at Grimsby Town next month, and hopefully, we can reach the knockout rounds and the last 32 of the competition.

Coach Ben Dawson – delighted with the win

Dawson has done well to guide the Newcastle youngsters to the brink of the final 32 – and who knows how far they can get in this seasons’ competition?

This is what Ben Dawson said after the great win last night:

“I thought they were terrific tonight. Every man – the starting 11 and the subs that came on – made a big impact.”

“Probably the most pleasing thing was the clean sheet! We haven’t had one for a while.”

“We managed the game really well scored early which always helps.”

“It was a case of letting them come on to us a bit in the second half and get some chances on the break.”

Now if only we can get the Newcastle first team starting to win some games – soon.
