Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has been given some good news for a change.
Left-Back Paul Dummett has missed the last couple of games with Kenedy filling in against Leicester City at home and then Javier Manquillo came in at Old Trafford last Saturday.
We lost both games and conceded five goals in those two games.
Paul has been nursing what was called a slight hamstring injury, and the good news is that he has returned to training.
Paul Dummett – back in full training
The Shields Gazette are reporting the 27-year-old participated in a full training session at Benton today.
That’s good news but now we need Salomon Rondon fit so we can have a full strength team for the upcoming home game against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, October 20.
The only injured player would be long-term casualty, Florian Lejeune.
It will be good to have Paul back in the line-up for a game we can hopefully win.
We are assuming both Kenedy and Muto will be ftt to play against Brighton after both came off with slight injuries at Old Trafford.
Comments welcome.

Comment #81They dont even have to be expensive, just quality. Dubs may not be the best in the world. But he is a quality keeper.
More gems to be found surely?

Comment #82But obvs certain postions require the money to be spent like upfront. And some creativity, this day and age it comes with a premium.

£50m buys a top defender now whereas didn’t Newcastle break the world transfer record in the past?
could Newcastle spend £50m on a defender or break the world record now?
i’m asking is it a different era now whoever the owner is even a better one?

Comment #86Ofcourse its a differt era. The era where youve got to spend to survive.
But isnt that the point of the riches of the prem league. So all teams get to add quality to there squads. While also making them finacially sound.
Buy a couole of quality players a year bank the rest. And if we really want to go for it with the mley weve bamked over the years.
We could treat ourselfs and go for glory.
Theres my buisness plan.

Could we? yes
Will we? Not a chance
How many teams in EPL have actually spent 50m on defenders? 2 to the best of my knowledge Liverpool X 1 and Man City X 4/5 that’s 18 that haven’t so it’s a loaded question to say the least. What point are you trying to make?

Comment #103I think we have a good core of players… We miss a game changer and if we brought in some ‘central creativity’ which I think Muto can do behind a striker we would be much the better for it. I can see if you can’t buy the talent you can certainly survive with hard workers as last season. I’d like to see the 4231 morph into the 442 more if Saturday was anything to go by with Muto and Perez, a bit more clinical and we’d have been off the scale, hopefully that will come with confidence and I believe the lads can hold their heads up after the weekend for effort.
I hope with seeing Ritchie play a full game, and the error that he made which was down to tiredness in the last minute that folk will now stop questioning Rafa subbing him after the hour. He works so hard it’s doubtful you can maintain that level for 90 mins

Comment #117Lascelles do you think we could play 433.
Hit teams hard and fast on the counter.
I think kennedy could play in any postion up top. Maybe we would need more pace then ritchie. Even though he adds to the team.
If only astu was up to scratch. We wud be rapid up top.
If we could of signed tarore we would of had that bit directness and a hell of alot of pace uptop

I’d love to see 433 but the lack of a real quality 10 prevents it to be effective in my opinion with the players we have. I know we are wing heavy on players which is why I can never see the 4312 I’d like to see. But certainly with the right creative and industrious midfielder 3 in the middle would be amazing imo.
I’d actually like to see 1 X deep playmaker (Shelvey) 1 X ball carrying midfielder (longstaff is worth a shot imo) and 1 defensive mid who is good at niggling at people breaking up play (KSY). I’m a big advocate of the big man wee man I’m hoping will come off when Rondon is fit and Muto, who looks ready now to be unleashed!
