Thanks to Newcastle Fans TV for this interview with Mick Lowes on their YouTube channel.
Mick talks about Newcastle’s current situation and whether he thinks Mike Ashley will sell the club anytime soon.
He also talks about the gaffer Rafa Benitez and whether he will stay on past next June at the club.
It’s very interesting viewing.

Just out of interest, what did you make of Rafa’s efforts to keep us up when he first took over from McClaren? Your position seems to be that no other manager could possibly outperform Benitez at Newcastle given Ashley’s constraints, and that even speculating on potential successors implies tacit support for the regime. Do you believe Benitez did as much as anyone else could have done to keep us up that year?

I was at the game against Bournemouth and watched us totally capitulate. So my answer would be I don’t think anyone else could have done better. We were handed a cruel fixture list, had we played Swansea or Paace at home in that first game instead of the league leaders away, I think things might have been different, had Ashley/Churnley not footed about and got shot of him in time for Stoke away and Bournemouth at home we would have 100% stayed up.

Comment #14What dilema has Ashley got cyprus. He either totally contradicts himself and buys players for a manager that won’t be her next season, sacks Rafa or doesn’t buy anyone, is that what you mean?

Nothing make believe about it Jail.
Can you honestly see Rafa staying on when his contract finishes, knowing as he does that even if Ashley splashes out in January, it’ll only because he wants the premiership money to continue and not because his ambitions for the club and those of Rafa are less than a million miles apart ?

Sports Direct is planning to create the ‘Harrods of the North’ after snapping up Glasgow’s iconic Frasers building in a £95million deal.

Comment #18I can’t see him staying to be honest, even if he got a decent transfer budget in January.
He would probably still have his suspicions that normal service and the skullduggery would resume once he signed a new contract.

Nope, not at all, my earlier post says exactly that. When he spends in January, which he simply has to, it has nothing at all to do with keeping Rafa happy, if we miraculously put thirty points on the board by January he will not be spending, it’s quite simple.

The Chronicle claim that the Magpies are considering axing their academy squads under the age of 16, leaving just older, more experienced talent to come through in a move which will reportedly cut costs for the club.

Comment #32Yes he did and admitted he was wrong
Our current owner has decided to ignore history, every other prem club, well just about every other club in the world
And just cut costs, with regard for the long term of the team or the club
Its was wrong the first time, but not leaning from it and doing it again is worse
