This Impressive Player Kept In Limbo At Newcastle

One reason being put forward why Freddie Woodman was not sent out on loan in August is that the club want him to sign a Newcastle deal.

His current deal last through 2020 and the news is the club wouldn’t sanction a loan for him unless and until he signs a new contract.

If that’s true, that’s unusual to hold up a player’s progression because he will not sign a new deal at the club.

Maybe he doesn’t want to stay on at Newcastle until hos current contract runs out in the summer of 2020 and he becomes a free agent.

Freddie Woodman – wants a loan move in January

In that case, will Newcastle keep Woodman in the U23 setup?

The good news for Freddie is that he has been called up to the England U21 squad even though he’s not playing first-team football.

It will not be interesting to see what happens in January and Freddie is not happy with the current situation at Newcastle where his progress is being held up by the club.

The Chronicle have reported they think Freddie will agree to a new deal this year and then will be sent out on loan in January.

It’s going to be interesting if Freddie doesn’t sign a new deal; will that mean the six times capped will be allowed to languish in the U23 setup for a full season?

That’s no way to treat an up and coming player at the club.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Harsh tactics considering it runs out in 2020…still over 18 months. Anything to base these reports on?

Anyway, Ed, I can’t work out whether you think this is or isn’t going to be interesting?

    Gareth Southgate is Freddie’s godfather.
His dad Andy the goalkeeping coach is
helping out at St Georges park since he
left Crystal Pal when Pardew was sacked.
I think young Freddie sees his future down
    South

Thanks for update on Sam Fender last night.

Watched a few Youtube videos – reminded me a little of Hozier at times. Especially liked the mention in “Leave Fast” of ” ..the Blue Star on The Nautilus” ( used to drink there off an on – nearest pub to me, in late 60’s early 70’s ) and The Beehive Road – again a pub there I visited with mates way back when.

Like a songwriter to mention home places Knopfler got there first with Spanish City, WB and Cullercoats of course but first for Shields I think. After all it’s not just about Galveston, Route 66 etc ha ha
