Fans Are Right To Be Skeptical Of New American Interest In Buying Newcastle

We suppose Newcastle fans have to be wary of a new takeover story coming out a few more times before we get to January.

Most of them if true – will be groups looking around at a high level – but things will not get serious until non-disclosure forms are signed.

We had the soap opera of Amanda Staveley trying to buy the club for around three months late last year and nothing came of that.

If Mike Ashley is not going to sell he should tell people that and not have this charade of saying he is trying to sell the club.

When will he take the club off the market and say that he really tried to sell it but he didn’t get any serious bids coming in.

Ashley’s said that before and we doubt he wants to sell now.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez

Here are some reactions from Geordie fans and they are mostly skeptical and that’s hardly surprising.

Probably a mix-up and it’s Ronald McDonald who’s offered to pay for one free burger when Ashley next takes the team out. Or maybe it’s Ellis Short??

    Jail #1 last thread,

“So really just a message from Keef telling us to stop these silly protests”.

Ashley’s certainly been squirming and thrashing about a bit recently. A worm on the hook?

The pressure on him has to keep mounting – from more and more media support, more Westminster pressure, more football ‘dignitaries’ voicing disapproval, and, of course, more fan pressure.

It’s definitely working so the gains must be consolidated and escalated.

If this is all his bargain bin PR have got.
Repetitive claims about some kind of sale I can see all the pressures getting to him/them

Nobody believes it,until the new owner is standing on the pitch holding up a toon top it’s all BS

    He don’t want to sell

Until he does there’s no chance of a sale

It would lend a lot of weight to the The Magpie Group if Sir John Hall apologised and then launched a scathing attack on Ashleys running of the club.

PR stunt by Ashley to take the pressure away from him, yeah him the man who has single handedly just about destroyed our club, the amount of money the club has received over the past 11 seasons through tv money, player sales and products the club sells through shite direct all going into ashleys pockets to buy other companies, no word from the inland revenue over there investigation into taxes at the club ect ect, politicians now on ashleys back, the media is now starting and past players having a go at him and every single fan in a toon shirt pointing the finger straight at the guilty bloke in the tacky tracksuit, a year ago it was Amanda and co, now its an American consortium with unlimited supply of money to throw at the club as were told but they wont be interested if we get relegated hmm sounds like another pr stunt to me and no doubt every bugger else on Tyneside please try another Ashley it has bells on

I think the protest groups are no where near as effective
as they like to think they are.
I’m not really sure that Ashley is feeling that much pressure.

I don’t think he sits at home thinking

“Shit 3 lads in anoraks stood outside an SD store in the pissing
rain last Saturday holding up a banner – I’d better fone Keith !”

Why would a USA investor put money into NUFC when he knows he can never win anything due to the unlimited rosters and money that the oligarchs at a few teams provide? Until the money and rosters are capped, and a draft instituted, the only thing most owners can do is try to avoid relegation. With such sensible changes, the Prem, might no longer be the “best” league in the world, but it would become competitive for all the clubs.

This reminds me of when the Staveley bid came in and she was told that ‘another bidder’ had emerged, prepared to pay Ashley’s price. At the time, she stated “Where are the other bidders? it’s been for sale for three months’. Nothing happened with the ‘other bidder’ even though they met his asking price.

It’s nice that another bid has come in which depends on us staying in the Premiership when we are struggling. The timing is great, it should give Rafa the incentive he needs to get some wins in the hope that a sale goes through. Hang on, any cynic would think this was engineered by the club.. surely not ?
