There are reports in Portugal that Newcastle United are monitoring Yacine Brahimi’s situation closely with a potential move being made in January to sign the 28-year-old Paris-born player.
The 39 times capped Algerian winger is a free agent next summer and Newcastle are interested in signing him, according to reports.
Porto could even be allowed to leave in January with West Ham and Everton also looking to pick up what seems like a bargain-buy.
Alternatively, Porto could keep the player until the summer, and a club could get him to sign a pre-contract agreement in January to be completed in the summer.
Yacine Brahimi – could be available for £5M in January
Because of his contract situation, the report suggests Porto could allow him to leave in January for just £5M.
But Newcastle will find it difficult to attract him unless out league position is much improved by January.
Brahimi moved to Porto four years ago from Granada, and he was born in Paris and played for all the French youth sides through the U21 level (8 appearances – one goal).
He is of Algerian descent and has played 39 times for the Algerian National side with 11 goals.
Brahimi plays as an attacking midfielder and a winger and is described as a technically gifted player.
Since he’s been at Porto, he’s played 181 times with 44 goals and 36 assists.
Newcastle have been interested in this player since 2012 by our records, and we were linked with him last January.
