This Player Coming In From The Cold At Just The Right Time

Isaac Hayden asked to leave the club in the summer and said he was unsettled and wanted to be closer to his girlfriend and baby daughter in south Wales.

But Rafa was unwilling to sell the player who could possibly bring in a £10M transfer fee to the club: the manager wasn’t sure he could replace him in the summer transfer window.

And we had already lost Mikel Merino who joined Real Sociedad for £10M earlier in the summer.

Rafa offered Isaac a flexible training schedule; so he could visit his girlfriend and baby frequently.

But it was clear that Isaac in the early season was unsettled, which is not surprising.

Isaac Hayden in action at Sporting Brava

He played at Cardiff and was sent off for a dangerous tackle,  with his mind elsewhere.

Isaac came on in the second half on Saturday against the Cherries and helped the team hold onto their 2-1 lead to register our second successive win.

But it appears Isaac is in a much better place now mentally, and that’s good becasue we have 9 games to play through January 2nd of next year.

This is what Rafa has said about the 23-year-old central midfielder:

“He is fine. At the start of the season it was all a bit confused. But he is OK,”

“He played against Cardiff and got sent off, which obviously I was not expecting.”

“After that, with Diame and Shelvey playing well, now Ki has the Premier League experience, too, so it has been difficult for him.”

“Because of the balance of the bench, we have decisions to make all the time about whether we have two midfielders among the substitutes, but he is fine.”

“He was an important player for us over the past two seasons but, because at the beginning of the season everything was a little bit wrong, he needed to settle down.”

“You could see against Cardiff – I’m not blaming him – but he was not focused, and I wasn’t expecting it. “

“He was sent off because, for me, he was very excited and wanted to impress.”

“It was wrong for him but, if he continues to train like he has the last couple of weeks, then he will get chances to play.”

“I was speaking to him and he is fine,” “At the moment he wants to be here, I think so, but we will see in the future.”

“It doesn’t matter, anyway, because he is here until January at the very least – and he has to keep going.”

Isaac has made only three appearances so far this season for the first team but has played a total 70 games for Newcastle with 3 goals and 4 assists since he joined us for £2M from Arsenal in the summer of 2016.

It’s still not clear if Isaac will still want to move away from Newcastle in January or the summer.

But he’s back in form at a crucial time for Newcastle  with these games coming up through January 2nd next year:

Mon 26 Nov Burnley vs Newcastle 8:00pm
Sat 01 Dec Newcastle vs West Ham 3:00pm
Wed 05 Dec Everton vs Newcastle 7:45pm
Sun 09 Dec Newcastle vs Wolves 3:00pm
Sat 15 Dec Huddersfield vs Newcastle 3:00pm
Sat 22 Dec Newcastle vs Fulham 3:00pm
Sat 26 Dec Liverpool vs Newcastle 3:00pm
Sat 29 Dec Watford vs Newcastle 3:00pm
Wed 02 Jan Newcastle vs Man United 8:00pm

How many of those nine games can we win?

Eight?

🙂

Is ben dawson a local lad?

Mind you it didn’t stop us turning on the best coach in the league in Carver lol !

I think Dawson’s local – maybe just assumed that. I think Lillongwe Geordie knows him so may clarify, but I thought he was from Durham somewhere.

Anyway, he’s been associated with the club for a good number of years now and that makes him one of us if nothing else.

I thought Carver was a decent coach – he had a big part to play in our 5th place finish under Pardew – but should never have been manager.

I think Ashley has upped his share of SD
    to about 75%
£400M for NUFC would just about be enough
for him to buy out the remainder and delist from
the stock market , which he’s been determined to do
    since the last shareholders meeting.

jib were are you getting this information from ?????

Not having it, he’s a parcel, young Longstaff should be in before him, Hayden is now owa at all, needs to go back down the smoke,Benitez only gives a young in a chance at the very last option, on another note, strange case with Fabian Schar who looks to me every bit as good as Lascalles, was not even involved in any way for two thirds of this season, even when we were getting beat every week, centre half in a good national team, then there is Ki, captains a decent S Korea side and the same as Schar couldn’t get a look in to a loosing team, what must they have been thinking, now they get in and look very good.

It’s an easy conclusion to come to
I’ve been banging on about Ashley buying up shares in SD for months
    https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/06035106/filing-history
couple that with him crying about being stabbed in the back by the shareholder
add what we know about him being a vindictive bastard

He’s not be happy with public ownership of his baby for years

TNWM #159 early hours of this morning GMT,

You said, quite rightly, “I don’t get how it’s been proven that Qatar bribed officials to get the World Cup, but nobody has took it away from them… Any other walk of life the vote would be called null and void”.

In “any other walk of life” you must be referring to the Brexit referendum, where the voting has been proved to have been critically skewed as a result of blatant lies and illegal funding and is therefore due to be ‘called null and void’. Yes, I agree with you. Well said.

    11 minute walk in.
Only worth doing if it has big support.
Not about the rights and wrongs of it. It’s about being united.

Magpie Group need to sell it more. So far they have not. Last game just a leaflet saying we are having one. No effort to persuade folks or state their reasoning.
That might change as game gets closer.

Ed. Do a post on to support or not support the Walk In. With a vote on supporters intentions.

Fulham have sacked manager Slavisa Jokanovic and replaced him with Claudio Ranieri, who guided Leicester to the Premier League title in 2016.

Another good reason to get well away from the bottom half of the tanker be gore it gets more competitive.

Howay50, I’ve been considering how to respond to your post from a couple of threads ago. I think skepticism is proper, hope is realistic.

This guy Ben Harington who blogs as Betaville is an ex-telegraph financial editor, now freelance, so you would think he would have a contacts list as long as his arm. Trouble is, Ashley is famously private so you would think would be playing his cards close to his chest.

That means any contacts he has are more likely to be connected to the other side, the potential buyers. As he states “It’s not clear who the buyers for are” then that seems unlikely also, although he could be dissembling to either protect his source or hedge his bets.

Harington seems to be a respected financial journalist with no clear motive to write this article. As he says himself, he’s more interested in how Ashley could invest the money from a sale, rather than the sale itself.

That said, why would KBA use a relatively obscure financial blogger to push their agenda, rather than the mainstream media, as they have done before?

I think I’ll file this away for future reference, with the other nuggets which people have posted on here. I don’t disbelieve it, but at this stage I’m not quite ready to give it full credibility either. I think Harington himself has categorised this as possibly nothing more than ‘scuttlebutt’.

Nonetheless, thank you for sharing, it’s always appreciated.

Can we not just shoot Ashley with a tracking device, like they do to whales? They’re also secretive and covered in blubber, so he’d likely not even notice it was there.

That way, we’d always know when he visits the US.

    Makes sense to me, anyway.

I do have a giggle when you comment about other posters intelligence.

It was only last week you were suggesting we may be in for Mata in January.

I asked you how many loans a EPL team are allowed at one time, which you responded with 2.
It then took you 5mins and another post to realise the point I was making.

Be nice, don’t try and mock people with your superior intellect.
