Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon had an emotional experience in his career when he was involved in a freak incident with Everton midfielder James McCarthy back in January when he was playing for West Brom.
Rondon was running behind McCarthy in the game when Salomon attempted to kick the ball – but he caught the back of McCarthy’s leg and it turned out to be a terrible leg fracture for the Republic of Ireland International.
He was out of the game for a full 10 months and he has just returned to training.
The gruesome incident as it happened – James McCarthy’s lower right leg is broken
When Rondon saw the extent of the injury he couldn’t keep his emotions intact and started to cry openly on the pitch.
For Newcastle manager Alan Pardew was the West Brom manager at the time and Alan consoled the Venezuelan International.
Rondon went out of his way to give support and sympathy to James McCarthy and visited the midfielder in hospital.
To say that Rondon has a heart of gold is an understatement and the appreciative Everton fans have praised the 29-year-old for the compassion he showed.
In an interview with Telemundo, he was recalling the event and became emotional as tears start to stream down his face.
This is what the Newcastle number 9 said:
“Life played me a bad turn because I was the one who experienced it.”
“I’m crying because, apart from the fact that he’s a fellow professional, it was an injury that I actually felt when it happened.”
“I’ll never forget it – it was tough.”
“Thanks to God, I didn’t need the help of a psychologist because my family were there for me, but it’s something that I never wanted to experience.”
“In all of my naivety, I apologized to him, but it was totally unintentional.”
I didn’t want it to happen and didn’t think it would ever happen.”
Rondon will become a huge fan favorite if he continues to play like he did at home to Bournemouth.
And as well as being a tough and talented striker up front for Newcastle – as we said earlier – he has a heart of gold.
Good for him!!

I’d like to think not, surely five days off after only playing bit part appearances should see him fit and raring to go on Monday night.

Comment #127I think Rafa may have been tempted to start..,dare I mention his name..Joselu. But I can’t see him getting much change out of Burnley’s cloggers.. Rondon however…

Comment #128The Burnley players will be shit scared of Joselu after the way he punched himself senseless last season.

Judging by Jane’s post @96, you seem to be training her well though her mastery of Google isn’t up to your standards yet.
Jane’s use of the English language still needs some of your expert guidance – it was civilly delivered and not marred by arrogance and littered with abuse!

Comment #130We really need Rondon to start as he’s quite clearly the focal point of our attack. Rafa must have been frustrated to hell not having him up and running for the start of the season. He should be ok with the two extra days.

Comment #131Sorry I had to go yesterday – it’s a bugger when you have to do some work!
I didn’t mean to start a war about Munster and maybe I’m just not clever enough to see all these barbs against Rafa but I really think Tsunki & Jail that you are over analysing some of his comments! Like all managers Rafa has made some poor buys (Lazaar the most obvious) but these are offset by the likes of Fernandez, Ki etc.

Comment #132Completely agree martoon. Again tsunki over alayses because he genuinely thinks I don’t like rafa, so looks for every inference possible. As I said, well done on frenandez, not so well done on lazaar. Sorry, we should mention anything that’s not positive, even if the overall picture is positive.

Comment #133Dubai wud I want Stephen Kenny? Nope. Not sure why you ask mate. Although he is very bright and a great coach apparently. Jesper, I get your point about repeating myself to jail and his wingman. But I don’t want rafa out of nufc. Not even remotely. But if he makes a poor signing or substitution, I’ll say it as I see it. I’ll also praise him for good stuff, so well done on Fernández Rafa. And plenty more good stuff too Mr b

Comment #134Reet, Monday night kick off. Rondon might just start then. In that case, Burnley 3, Newcastle 23. Well maybe not, but I’d fancy us for a hard-earned away point, or even God willing, nicking all 3. Champion.

Comment #135Fernando Llorente looked good when playing
for Swansea a couple of season ago in the PL
At Spurs he’s very much in the shadow of Harry Kane
His contract is up in Summer
Spurs paid £12M for him – Pochettino will take £4M
in January
He’ll be 34 next Feb
Coincidentally his full name is
Fernando Javier Llorente Torres
Feasible?
