Who Was Newcastle’s Man of the Match In 1-1 Draw At Everton?

We didn’t expect much out of the game tonight with Goodison Park not being a happy hunting ground for Newcastle, but the Magpies came away with a 1-1 draw.

Rondon put Newcastle ahead after 19 minutes, and he was nicely set up by an excellent left-wing run and cross from Jacob Murphy, who had a good game.

But the home side were level after 38 minutes when Richarlison fired home from a right-wing corner that Newcastle should really have cleared.

And after some heavy late pressure from the Toffees, the Magpies could even have snatched the win with two minutes to go when Atsu was straight through on goal but shot straight at former Sunderland goalkeeper Pickford.

Nevertheless, this was an excellent point for Newcastle, and we hope we can get a win at home to Wolves on Sunday.

    Federico, ha, of course. Not Frederico. What a provincial oaf I am. I voted for him too, but Dubravka also great, and also liked Ki and Schar.

    What a useful point that was bearing in mind the results of the other teams around the bottom of the table.
    So pleased that Murphy showed us a bit about his abilities.

    I think the big worry for me is Manquillo he tries hard and has pace but just looks so out of place at left back its crazy! 3 at the back does kind of cover for him a bit but he does give you plenty of heart in mouth moments!!

    I think he would be okay at right back but left back is just not his position !

    Murphy’s very good. He’s been unlucky that we’ve needed graft and experience, and haven’t had the luxury of giving him an extended run. If he had Kenedy’s confidence, he’d be starting. He has everything except experience at this level and the confidence that comes with it.

    MA has no intention of selling the club

    It’s his usual lie

    @Nicky

    Yeah I feel Murphy or Atsu now need a bit of an extended run in the team both offer something different to Richie

    No point having Murphy get a confidence building assist and then dropping him completely for the next game

    Manqillo was ok v West Ham, and did well tonight. Not defensively solid enough to be a starter, but certainly a tidy player. At right wing back outside a back 3, in a side with a bit more quality in attack, he’d do the job nicely. We need proper left back to compete with Dummett though.
