These Were Newcastle’s Three Best Players In 1-1 Draw At Everton

Newcastle were a little dodgy in defense in the game against West Ham at home on Saturday in the second half.

It ended up to be a surprise 3-0 defeat after we had won three games in a row.

But the defense was back in form last night at Goodison Park and showed grit, guts, and courage to limit the Toffees to a single goal in the hard-won point and a 1-1 draw.

Martin Dubravka continued his excellent form in goal for Newcastle this year and was our Man of the Match with 44% of the vote.

Martin Dubravka – Man of the Match – another brilliant display

With Juventus said to be after him, Rafa may want to give him a new improved contract given how important player has been this year at Newcastle – he deserves it too.

The current two starting center-backs Fernandez and Schar were second and third respectively in the voting – and they have proven to be excellent together in central defense.

But Swiss International Schar picked up his fifth yellow card of the season so he will get a one-match ban and will, therefore, miss the home game against Wolves on Sunday afternoon.

It was an excellent result for us last night, and now 3 points is exactly what we need on Sunday afternoon against Wolves at home.

A win will help us climb the league table although not with the next game because we are now a full 5 points behind the club just above us in the league – West Ham.

Here’s where we stand after the midweek games.

    Ashleysmate @219

That post wasn’t a rant, it was a cry from the heart. You’re not alone young fella, that’s for sure.

We can but hope that Ashley sells up and if he doesn’t, we’ve all been stuffed, yet again.

    The days of future, passed?

Ashley would be a fool to fake 4 billionaires taking over. Magpie Group have rightly cancelled the protest as it would have got a low turnout, but if Ashley doesn’t sell and doesn’t spend in Janurary then the protests will be back on and be massive. He might be clueless about football but he is not stupid. Like Jail said, if he doesn’t want to spend like in the summer just gone then he doesn’t need to orchestrate all this. He seems to do just do what he wants anyway and doesn’t really care for others opinions as far as I can tell. I think we’ll either sell by Jan 1st or Ashley will move the price up to £350-400m and release £50-70m for transfers/ loans (if relegation looks possible). IF we sell, that money goes off his loan.

IF you take Ashley at his word (and most won’t) then he said he’d sell for 300m as long as the new owners could show they have 150m to spend on players and infrastructure. Although half of that would just be buying players we neglected to buy in the summer, we could still make a great team with that amount and with Benitez in charge could really look at attacking the top 6.

    hibbit,
I think he’s got that wrong about TMG letting us down or True Faith, the boycott hasn’t been called off because of that interview it’s because the 11th minute was such a poor show then they surely knew that a full boycott would have been a disaster, he would have filled the empty spaces with cheap tickets anyway. It was the fans that took their seats that let TMG down, the same ones that left 15 minutes early to get a pint five minutes quicker.

    Shirebrook toon,
Are you honestly suggesting that there are those that would prefer to see a takeover collapse and rid ourselves of this nightmare just so that they can gloat to a man that they don’t know who claimed he had a sensational scoop???

I don’t think it’s the fact that online guy shared the info (very welcome) it’s the way he went about telling everybody afterwards “I broke it I broke it” “it was me 4 days before” “look what I posted” that a few are getting their knickers in a twist about.

It seemed a bit ‘yeah we know, thanks for sharing but wanna medal’ kinda cringe.

That’s how it came across online guy, sorry.

For those chaps interested in the Knights Templar
May I recommend this brilliant French TV series
    from the early 70’s

“Les Rois Maudits” – the accursed kings

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VU3-_C6IcWo&list=PLMMJjJPTS2uqBimwHujMCcbx0_HoFIqjd

It’s very informative about Medieval France and being sub-titled is
a good aid to learning French – you will also spot some actors who
later became big film – stars

btw Mr Tuff the French King who destroyed the Templars was
Philip iv (the Fair) he also expelled the Jews from France

He owed big money to both the Jews and the Templars so he
    wasn’t daft.

    Interestingly George Lucas’ favourite movie
is The Hidden Fortress by Akira Kurosawa
who specialised in Samurai movies in the
    40’s and 50’s
The Magnificent 7 was based on his movie
    The 7 Samurai

Lots of comparisons have been made twixt
    the Samurai and the Jedi

    TBH,
I’d take the table as is at the end of the season. We’re just 4 points from the very bottom and a 5 from the next best position. Draw your own conclusions.

    Wolves won’t be a pushover.

Although we will beat them 🙂

I was thinking earlier that OLG is obviously an extremely high net worth individual if his claims that he doesn’t need any more money are to be believed.
Would it not then be an option for him to buy the club should all of the interested parties that he listed not come up with the money.

Not seen it yet cos my vpn is playing up and it’s not on a torrent site yet – but I pretty much know all that was said (and a lot of what wasn’t).

Won’t go into it on here mind you.

Florian Lejeune is back in full training at Benton
just 5 months after his injury.
Benitez says he could play against Wolves this
weekend if required but even though Fabian Schar
is suspended he won’t risk the Frenchman starting.
    Perm any 4 from:-

    Lascelles
    Fernandez
    Clark
    Yedlin
    Manquillo
    Hayden
    Sterry

I did have a gut feeling that this maybe it a couple of days ago but I have to balance it out logically that this is the busiest time of the year for the retail sector so it could be our delightful owner not wanting Xmas sales disrupted by angry Toon fans.

For many years we have struggled to find a solid, reliable CB pairing now it appears we are spoilt for choice. Rafa has definitely sorted out his back line , we just need some flair up top and we all know the cost of that.
Online……. Any chance you could chuck a few quid in?

I se the Almiron ‘deal’ is going the same way as all the others.

Club says we are very interested
club says we have agreed terms

Turns out we have not even made a bid

    We make £5M offer

Other team ridicules us and prices us out of the deal

Other team steps in an snaps up player for £2M more than our offer
