No Negative Reaction From Our Two Star Players

Jamaal had to wait to make it back into the Newcastle, starting eleven after being injured.

And Jonjo Shelvey is still being kept out of the starting lineup by the impressive Ki Sung-yueng who has played 108 times for South Korea and captained them in this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

One of the things Rafa prioritizes is that the team comes first before any individuals.

And you can see that by the excellent team spirit of the players this season.

Rafa says Jamaal and Jonjo are professionals and they know what they have to do to get back into the side.

Jonjo Shelvey and Jamaal Lascelles – no negative reaction

Rafa talked yesterday about Newcastle’s two stars Jamaal Lascelles and Jonjo Shelvey.

Rafa was asked if there was any reaction for the two top players:

“No they (Lascelles and Shelvey) are professionals and they understood that the team was doing well.”

“They know they have to wait and keep pushing to get back in the team.”

“I think they understand that a team that was winning and in the position they were needed support behind the scenes and they were doing that.”

“Darlow will start training again this week.”

The injury update is encouraging in that Kenedy is available for the game against Wolves tomorrow, and Dummett may also be available if he comes through training OK today.

Goalkeeper Karl Darlow will come back into the squad for our next game at Huddersfield on 15th December.

We play at Huddersfield next Saturday and at home to Fulham the following Saturday – if we can win both those game we will be riding high before Christmas.

Tsunki, poor form to mention the Leeds sicko on the comment re OLG. I know it wasn’t intended but a poor choice of comparison.

Ki is a lot More of A complete player than Shelvey and is so calm on the ball, I cant remember him losing possession, I Would say try playing them together but will we miss donkey Diame’s sometimes ok defensive presence? And will Shelvey just keep going deep and look for Hollywood balls, we need to continue to try and kEep the ball which Ki is so good at (of course Play the Hollywood Ball if it’s on, because he has got that in His locker)

    Lochinvar,

Yeah great watching Bryan Ferry last night, brought back a lot of memories. Always my favourite band back in the 70’s / early 80’s. Scares me to think I am now 57 and I got into Roxy music when I was 13 Think I’ll get my old CDs out today and have a blast of ”More than this, oh yeah on the radio, dance away” et al !!

I for one welcome any snippets of a takeover that you and others can provide and it’s probably what’s keeping a lot of people like me going. One thing that concerned me though was you said this site was monitored by the powers that be at NUFC. Not sure they’d be very happy re – your comment that Ash had been pushed to the brink. . . or words to that affect.

If anything Shelvey should be tried as a number 10 because his stats in the ” quarter back” role he plays are really awful, as are his free kick set pieces.

Tbh we have looked far more fluid with Ki and what an inspired signing he looks to be. Similarly Shar and Fernandez have been different class and Shar’s balls out of defence will be missed tomorrow. Would keep 3 at the back but Clark’s not in the same league in being able to bring the ball out. Real dilemma when Lejeune comes back as he is also a ball playing CB.
