Salomon Rondon is starting to show what a good striker he can become for Newcastle.
Rondon was brilliant when we beat Bournemouth at home, and he had another good game at St. James’ Park on Sunday in the unfortunate 2-1 defeat to Wolves.
Salomon showed he was in form when early in the game he got a decent ball from Mo Diame that he brought under control quickly and shot immediately, but it was straight at the goalkeeper.
Newcastle need to get those balls into the box for the Venezuelan, and he will score goals for us.
He’s becoming an important player for Newcastle.
Salomon Rondon – Man of the Match against Wolves
Salomon is our Man of the Match with 34% of the vote followed by the reliable Martin Dubravka, who made some good saves to keep us in the game.
That was until Wolves scored the winner in the 94th minute.
🙁
We now face Huddersfield away and Fulham at home in our next two games and we can’t afford any slip-ups otherwise we could be in a little rouble by Christmas.

Comment #1Rondon was top notch on Sunday, unfortunately so was Dubravka again 🙁
I imagine Benitez appreciates his possible last few months of contract here as a valuable learning opportunity. Sure he’s had tight budgets and meagre resources before but to do it at this level is certainly a unique opportunity, care of Mr Ashley. He can’t lose really, he’s proved he can make the best of resources and deliver an end product ( in our case PL survival) and with a budget handed out by a new owner he will probably be a fitter and more skilled coach than he’s ever been.
Sorry to see that the comp house thing was indeed a red herring but we live in hope that Ashley is at least trying his level best to call it quits before he’s made to have a fire sale.

Moncur hasn’t been active on the board since 2017 from what I can see. He is still a club ambassador and works with the foundation

Comment #6Regards the companies house thing. If Newcastle were to be sold and this hadn’t been changed, Ashley would have to appoint another two directors to make it legal. Now it only needs Penfolds say so. As for the timing, I suspect it’s to add to the sale PR momentum, KBA must remember how excited people got last year with the companies house stuff. No good in August for him.
It is a positive sign IMO, it means Penfolds has the authority to sell without the authority of two other directors.

If he’s pulling another fast one and was clever, he might also do this.

Comment #9We need 7 more points by end of this year. It will get us to 20 points at least. So we need atleast 15 points only to survive relegation.
Can we do it?

Yay! Crack open a bottle of Aquavit for that one!
I don’t know what you’re watching catchy but the style we play hardly adheres to the strict “Stoke” rules of hoofball. I’d say our football is generally good, works both sides of the pitch with pace, Benitez always puts a midfielder with either a good eye for space or a pinpoint park splitting pass but that’s not hoofball me old mariner. Our let down is getting 100% pl quality on the pitch in a single game and the associated drop in concentration (usually as a result of putting in a shift of hard work to paper over our skills shortfall).
If you had been watching (and I seriously doubt you’ve been getting good reception on the North Sea lately) you would have noticed our passing game has improved remarkably – I for one see a bit of light at the end of this season’s tunnel because we definitely look better than the bottom five and IF we got a sigbing or two in January and IF they blended in from the off, we could finish up the high places.

Comment #15Catchy – it’s actually 9 home games, 7 lost – we beat Watford & Bournemouth. No it’s not great but were very unlucky in some of them games but have you ever heard the expression: ‘You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear’?

Comment #16Mr T – I mentioned it when it came out. The club usually submits account notices this time of year, probably their best time to dustpan and brush things like redundant name- only board members and such. Trouble is we are all willing something good to happen and naturally folk pounce on every chink of light.

Comment #18Erm just to be clear, Charnfold might be the sole director but the Owner (as the shareholder) gets the right to list or delist at the end of the day. Charnsworth is at his master’s bidding.

Comment #19Chancel – unfortunately you now seem to be promoting duff info after having received duff info.
If the club is sold the current owners (tubbs) nhas I believe 3 weeks (under the Companies Act) to notify CH of the change in ownership.
The new owners would notify CH asap and in any event within 3 weeks of their ownership.
Penfold would have no authority to make changes on behalf of the new owners – they would do any changes themselves.

Comment #23Tsunami, Obviously, but in order for the transfer of ownership to happen it needs the signature of one director (previously 3). I’m not saying Penfolds is anything other than Ashley’s puppet, just that this change is needed if nufc were to register a change of ownership.
Could be a good sign, could be a bit of Ashley bluff spin.

My gut still sore from the punch to the solar plexus that occurred Sunday afternoon. But beginning to come out of the funk a bit and so catching up with blog posts for past couple days. One thing I have not seen (perhaps I just missed it) is any statements from Rafa or press insiders as to the complete absence of Jonjo from the team sheet vs Wolves. Was it due to injury (re-injury?) or was it just due to Rafa not thinking he deserved a place on the bench?

Ashley as the owner may have the final say on any sale but Charnley as an officer of the the company has dozen of legal obligations he has to fulfill before Ashley can actually sign off and sell the company

Charnley will have limited authority to approve certain transactions and spend at NUFC but it certainly wouldn’t extend to approving the terms of the club’s sale – NUFC’s owned by Mash Holdings isn’t it and if that’s the case, it would be the seller.
However, my guts tell me that this sale episode’s gonna end up like the rest – more time under Ashley. What have the good people of Newcastle done to deserve him – Aaaaaarrrrgh!
