Newcastle United have been reported to have a deal in place for Miguel Almiron, but that doesn’t look like the case although he does seem to want to join Rafa Benitez at Newcastle.
But we’ve had other players who wanted to join Newcastle because of Rafa, but owner Mike Ashley has been unwilling to come up with the cash to buy the player.
That may be happening again although Miguel’s father has said Newcastle are in the best position to sign his son.
Miguel Almiron – Newcastle shouldn’t diddle and daddle to sign this playmaker
His father Ruben Almiron spoke to the media in South America on Monday and said:
“He will definitely go to England, what’s left to be decided is to what club but Newcastle is the one with the advantage.”
Steve Nickson and his recruitment team have sent Rafa glowing scouting reports for Miguel Almiron, and he seems a hard worker who could have an impact quickly in the Premier League.
This reminds us of Dele Alli in January 2015 when we were continually said to be in the lead for the MK Dons number 10 but at the wouldn’t pay the £5M fee.
And then in stepped Tottenham on 2nd February with only hours remaining in the transfer window o sign the player on a five year deal for £5M.
The Chronicle are reporting today that Almiron has been watched for 18 months by Newcastle scouts and would be an excellent buy for the Magpies if we will pay the money.
£15M has been touted as the fee, but Atlanta have said they want €30M and will try to get as much as possible for one of their two star players – Venezuelan striker Josef Martínez being the other one.
Englishman Darren Eales is Atlanta’s President and has said about Almiron:
“Clearly there’s been a lot of interest, not only in the Premier League but from top clubs around Europe.”
“I’d expect that because he he’s had a wonderful season.”
“The reality is, and forgive me for repeating myself, he’s got three more years under contract with Atlanta United.”
“He’s one of our top players. We’re MLS Cup champions. We have an owner in Arthur Blank who wants to win.”
“If the right offer comes in that’s right for Miggy, right for the club and right for the league then we will consider it.”
We don’t think it will be possible to get Almiron on the cheap and that’s one of the reasons Newcastle could miss out on Almiron – probably to a bigger club in the Premier League.
If we are to be successful, we should be moving quickly to get a deal done for the Paraguayan International playmaker.
What do you think?

Almiron deal seems to be sorted, maybe why cAshley is asking £350 million instead of the £300 mentioned awhile ago.
I’m thinking Rafa may have £50 million to spend takeover or not
Maybe I should say I’m hoping 😉

Comment #13Apparently an almiron transfer would make him the most expensive Paraguayan player in history. Current record set at $28m/£22m.
If this does happen, then I’ll start believing a takeover is happening. Mike Ashley is never allowing that much to be spent on one player.

Comment #14As Steve Nickson’s been in the US to set up a deal and Ashley has to approve it, then nit doing so would undermine both Nickson and Rafa which won’t go down too well with either of them. And if Ashley’s going to be playing the potential sale to block any quality signings this winter, then it’s adios Rafa.
Almiron’s signature – or not – will be so telling.

So, 12 hours from Atlanta, arrive at NCL around 02:00. Quick kip, at the training ground for 12pm, decides it looks a bit sh!te and back at NCL for 13:00
OR quick trip to the training ground, photos with Rafa, club announcement at 14:00, time to nip to the Metro Centre, stock up on Dunlop trainers with his Sports Direct signing on bonus gift vouchers and a cheeky Nandos.
OR he’s on his way to Juve (black and white connection, see…)

Comment #23Right, serious head on – implications if this transfer goes through are massive, as people have kinda suggested.
How many times have we been sat at the end of a January transfer window with either no signings or having seen our best player leave and not been replaced?
If this is accurate, the most expensive (and highest risk) deal of Ashley’s reign could be completed before the window even opens. That’s actually batsh!t mental…
It would require either a complete change of heart and strategy from Ashley OR a signal of intent from the new owners.
It’s also worth mentioning that Rafa has taken a back seat on this compared to Steve Nickson, by all accounts. Someone questioned Nickson’s authority to do this kind of deal over Rafa’s head. Does that suggest Nickson has a new role, soon to be announced? I think Rafa would quite like a Head of Recruitment to go and do the recruiting, leaving him to get on with the coaching. Especially someone that Rafa apparently had a hand in promoting from his role with the U21s.
It feels like someone else’s hand is on the tiller, if this goes through. I just don’t see Ashley steering this course.

Comment #35Sorry, the last line” I think everyone has said the same thing ” but honestly Toon22 if its all B/S then that’s all it is. We are all hoping this is not another lie and that’s the only hope the fans have right now, so lets us hope that we get sold instead of writing everytime someone mentions the fact they feel it could happen the sale of the club.

Comment #36On another tack, how much is this witch-hunt against racists in football getting up other peoples’ noses?
Sterling gets abused by one t0sser, other plaers have to come out and say “I was racially abused when I was 12”.
Time was that entire grounds would be hooting monkey noises at opposition players.
There’s no room for racism in football and individuals who partake in racist behaviour should be given lifetime bans from the grounds.
However, tarring us all with the same brush saying racism is widespread in football is just not true, it’s an exaggeration and is just as damaging as any single racist incident.

Comment #39Novel idea a third party buying a player for Mr Tubbs team. Not likely at all.
Tubbs would pull a fast one – nobody is that daft.
Anyway if we do get Almiron and he makes the step up – potential future superstar.
The lad can play football – a natural.
Teammates would have difficulty getting up the field, so quick and direct.
Downside might be if his natural game is coached out of him.

Comment #40Tsunki I did read something from you in the form of slack jawed Blabbermouth mouth who couldn’t possibly have inside knowledge to big business, I feel I have to address that now just to put you to bed and tuck you up.
Firstly the above is pre supposing I don’t know anyone in big business, correct ?
Secondly you don’t know who I am , correct?
So as for not having inside knowledge and friends who are movers and shakers on this planet ,on both counts you are totally wrong .
I will tell you who now .
One close freind is high up in the financial world , has been involved with Chelsea , Man Utd , and a 3rd club I won’t name .
The other friend of over 36 years standing is a member of the Qatari royal family .
Take that as read Tsunki…
You have sniped away for 2 weeks now Tsunki ..even levelled the perverted Jimmy Saville at me in a message to me , dragging the blog down to a new low .
You do have some intelligence but use it In the wrong way by continually sniping at people and putting them down.
Don’t question or pour your usual scorn on me over the people I know I mention above. It’s a fact.
