Rafa Benitez doesn’t seem to know much at all, about the level of support he will be getting from Mike Ashley during the upcoming January transfer window.
There are reported to be at least two groups trying to buy Newcastle – one is led by Peter Kenyon and one by Garry Cook, the former Manchester City chief executive.
It seems that American money is behind both bids.
When January arrives we expect Mike Ashley still to be the owner and since Rafa wants the new players brought in during early January it’s Ashley who will have to allocate funds to Rafa – and that’s not good news.
Rafa Benitez – November PL Manager of the Month
Rafa doesn’t seem to know much at all about the support he will be getting next month as he has said this – as reported in the Shields Gazette:
“Normally, we don’t talk about players. “But, in this case, I’m telling you that we’re not talking about anyone at the moment.”
“We have to have a meeting, maybe.” “And then we’ll see our targets then, maybe.”
“People have been asking me about him (Doan), but we don’t know (our targets) yet.”
“It’s a long season, a long-distance race, and we have to carry on,”
“We will enjoy the next couple of days, but then, after, we will concentrate on Fulham and we will not see the table.”
“We just need to think about getting another three points – that’s it.”
Newcastle moved up to 14th place in the Premier League with the great win at Huddersfield on Saturday.
But the win by Southampton at home to Arsenal yesterday means we are now just 4 points above the drop zone.

Comment #1Judging by Rafa’s comments, he hasn’t a clue what’s happening or what he’s got to play with and that must make the Almiron pap.

Comment #2Deja vu from last year, why did Mike Ashley decide to do all this near the January window AGAIN? If he Really every intention to sell, there would be an agreement For funds put into Place…if not it was all Just mike Ashley ploy Not to spend again and was getting his excuse in before hand.

I don’t think I’ve ever claimed to have spat coffee over my keyboard nor am I about to, incidentally I finished my coffee about five minutes ago, but boy did I chuckle at that 😀

Comment #5Rafa said the same last season, but then dragged in Dubravka and Kenedy. Do we really believe he just ‘found’ these two and decided he should gamble our Premier League survival on them?
He knows who he wants already, despite what he says. He’s a kidder, experienced at deflecting the media. Take what he says with a pinch of salt and have faith that he will get any necessary business done at the appropriate time.

You heap on the praise when we win and criticise when we lose which is more often than not, that is not fair and balanced. You innocently claim it is his subs and tactics you criticise, why not mention the riots in North London or his credentials as a top flight manager, why not mention his cold hearted man management techniques that see him hated by lots of former players, you’ve left out all of his previous sackings as well! Why? Because it wouldn’t gain the sympathy you’re after in you pursuit to be seen as a fair and balanced critic.

Comment #7Jail you are too stupid to try to re-explain it to. So I won’t. Well done jesper, should have taken your advise earlier. Jib I should have listened to your advice aswell. I’m surprised tsunki hasn’t chipped in but at least he’s smarter than Average, but really we are at a low level there.

Comment #9Rafa Benitez quote ““I’m telling you, we are not talking about anyone at the moment”.
I’m seriously thinking of quoting this every time a new transfer target is mentioned.
The club won’t back him. End of!
