It was all very disappointing yesterday at St. James’ Park with Newcastle not being able to score against the bottom of the league side Fulham and we drew 0-0.
That was only the second away point of the season for Fulham and their first clean sheet of the season.
And that about sums up Newcastle’s powder-puff attack – we must get some creative players and another striker in next month when the transfer window opens.
And if we cannot score goals, we cannot win, and Newcastle didn’t have one shot on target during a dismal game with few chances.
We did have a couple of shouts for a penalty, but referee Martin Atkinson didn’t oblige.
Ayoze Perez – in action yesterday
After we had heard from players last week about giving a Christmas gift to the Newcastle fans with another win before Christmas, it all fell very flat very quickly, and some supporters even booed the team off at the end.
That’s a rare event these days under Rafa Benitez.
We dropped one place to 15th in the league table with Crystal Palace going above us with a fantastic 3-2 win at Manchester City.
Yesterday’s game was technically the easiest we could get – at home to the bottom of the league Fulham.
Our next game is at Liverpool who are top of the league – technically the toughest game of the season.
We will have to do an awful lot better than yesterday if we are to take anything from a team who has 15 wins from their 18 league games and are unbeaten.

Comment #2Hard to put your finger on exactly what went wrong. I don’t think 5 at the back helped but the players seemed off the pace as well – maybe they get nervous at home?

No maybe about it some of the players are bottling it,
confidence at home on the pitch in some of the players is very low,and a section of our fans is not helping.

Comment #5What went wrong was two of the worst teams in the division tried their hardest to have a game of football and failed miserably.

Comment #6Missed the game yesterday, turns out I was the only winner then!
Can’t really comment on the game but We’ve struggled for years, even in the championship and even before Rafa, to break teams down that are organised, sit back and look to counter. Don’t have enough creativity, pace and skill in the side.

Comment #7OGS basically walks through the door and watches one of the most expensive teams in the league despatch the worst by far. And Catchy thinks that OGS’ training and tactics did that? 😀 :D. 😀
Let’s just wait a few weeks eh?

Comment #9I wonder how many goals Cardiff would have conceded if Rafa was their manager? Think they could have stood being beaten by the odd goal or was it much better for morale to have a right good go and be stuffed to death? Hmm…

Comment #11You need (tiny) hands to show the world you’re happy,
And you need hands when you have to park the bus,
But the hands we love so dear,
are the hands we love to hear
Are the hands that you give to us….
Come on everybody…..

Comment #12Lee Catchpole is going to be totally insufferable during this difficult run of games coming up.
A so called fan praying that we lose every game to somehow prove his twisted logic.
