Federico Fernandez forced his way back into the starting lineup after having a calf injury, but he had to leave the game at halftime on Saturday with a hip problem.
Fabian Schar came in and did quite well, but it was a mistake by him and Shelvey that allowed Watford to score in the 82nd minute to make the score 1-1.
With the game coming thick and fast now we would be surprised if he makes the starting line-up on Wednesday night against a rejuvenated Manchester United side under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Federico Fernandez in action at Watford
Rafa has talked today about Fernandez in the Shields Gazette today:
“He has a knock in his hip, so we have to assess him on Monday, and then see what happens,”
“We have enough bodies, but always it’s not good news to lose any player.”
“We will see (if Clark is fit).”
“I was talking to him on Friday, and he said he was feeling better, but still he was feeling a little bit his ankle.”
Fabian Schar will likely start the game on Wednesday night if Federico is not fit.
And we do have Florian Lejeune fit and ready to play, and the Frenchman is likely to start next Saturday in the FA Cup 3rd round at home to Blackburn Rovers.
If he plays well, he could keep his place in the side.
We have four top six sides coming up in the next month or so and we must take something out of these games if we are to stay above the relegation zone.,

What will be just as predictable as catchy coming on to gloat about OGS “transforming” Man U will be his claims that it was the coaching skills of Benitez to blame when the wheels well and truly come off next season.

You had your chance to put forward your detailed plan in response to my comment but most calm and reasoning individuals just knew you can’t and won’t.
You’ll simply engage in the same old bad-mouthing ad hominems you’ve been putting forward for what seems like time immemorial.
A Happy New Year to Toon fans wherever you are.

Comment #4Queue the usual shitty comments from Septic Tanks and other plastic Geordies. Every now and then I dip in with a comment, cos I can only stand so much of reading about the EPL our some of the the other utter turd most of you unleash in here! Still doing a great job Edd. Keep it up. Diame has been outstanding for us. Breaks down play through their midfield. Helps push forward whilst dropping back into the hole. Lacelles has looked out of sorts, as Lejeune Does his job and then some. London is good, but I would have stuck with Mitro. Kennedy needs to have a free role. Will leave you all to your Aluminum and Tomato’s. Too many Soccer fans in here! Soccer! It’s Football – that egg you’s play with should be called new world rugby!
