Club Agree To Loan For One Of Newcastle’s Targets

There’s news in the Mail today that Newcastle are interested in bringing Marseille winger Clinton N’Jie on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy in the summer.

The former Tottenham player is wanted by Fulham, Cardiff, and Burnley in addition to Newcastle – all clubs fighting relegation this season and the other three clubs are below Newcastle in the league – at the moment.

The update is that Marseille have now agreed to allow their player to go out on loan this month.

N’Jie was at Tottenham for a couple of years from 2015 before he made a move to Marseille.

Spurs paid €12M for him from Lyon back in 2015 on a five-year deal, but it was not a successful move, and he ended up making only 8 appearances for Spurs in the Premier League – all of them as a substitute.

Newcastle will try to arrange a loan deal for the player with an option to buy in the summer if he performs well through the end of the season.

25-year-old Marseille striker Clinton N’Jie

In 71 total appearances for Marseille, he has scored 14 goals and has 8 assists, so he’s not a prolific goalscorer.

He has played 9 times this season with one goal for Marseille and has 22 caps for Cameroon with 7 International goals.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

So they’ve been talking for weeks and it occurred to neither side to discuss the wage issue? Till now?

Anyway, don’t know if it’s this guy or someone else, but, we’ll need to start buying up better quality players who can make a real difference. Ie. A notch better than the current ones.

And, we’ll either need to improve scouting for 10-12 million gems (e.g. see the Murphy flop as an example to avoid), or shell out the current going rate for very good players (30 million).

Considering we need goal scorers he’s not that prolific although his international record is not bad.

When people have asked if I think we’ll go down I’ve said if we can limp by till January and Ashley spends then we’ll be ok. I honestly thought he would spend simply to protect his investment. It’s now looking more and more like he’s sticking his fingers up at Rafa, again another case of cutting off his nose… Why is anyone’s guess, he’s a mad gambler and maybe last year didn’t get close enough to the wire for him, as I said if we go down he doesn’t really lose any money he just doesn’t win as much. If we stay up he gets the jackpot. He’s using the club as his personal cash cow/advertising hoarding without a care in the world for it’s fans. It’s very very sad 🙁

Watching Sky sports news now and some MLS expert was just on saying everyone over there expects Almiron to come to Newcastle so there’s obviously a solid link but there’s just no way I can see fat ass paying all that actual real money for him and his wages.

We have the perfect opportunity to sign a brilliant player here who is clearly our number 1 target so if we don’t sign him then we can guarantee that Rafa walks very soon.

Ice baths on wheelie bins. Paddling pool.

Forget about clubs competing for Europe.
We got a long way to go to even catch up to the likes of Bournemouth and wolves.

Our club infrastructure is laughing stock. Wheelie bins. Wtf…

If newcastle were willing to let hayden go i would prefer they try and get phillips in,with gayle as part of deal…gayle wont score that many goals in the premier but phillips chips in with a few creates and grafts and eould be a midfield replacement for hayden….and almiron talk of wages is utter bollicks….we haven’t agreed a fee coz he’s to costly so reports come out we are not willing to pay his extortionate pay rates….last we could agree a fee, this year we cant agree wages….all utter bollicks, excuses excuses…more like lies, lies, lies.

Is he Rafa’s no.1 target or is he no.1 target because of restrictions of having to buy a player with potential that will increase in value? With the current form I would have thought Rafa’s top targets would be experienced premier league players

“there’s just no way I can see fat ass paying all that actual real money for him and his wages”

kc2012, which is the only thing that makes me think he isn’t supposed to be a Fat Mike signing. The only way I see us getting Almiron is if he’s bought by new owners.

Not saying I actually want him, I’ve expressed reservations before, but at least it would be a statement of intent of some kind.

toonces from previous re relative wages etc MLS vs Prem, great insight, thank you.

So if we don’t spend then I don’t think we’ll be ok. We got to the half way point with 18 points, so 36 would get you to the end and possible survival, possibly not as though. It doesn’t work like that, the demoralising effect it would have on the club of the takeover being exposed as another sham and a threadbare squad would be incalculable. If Rondon or even Yedlin or Dummet were to take a big injury we’d be in the clarts, it really does make you sick to the stomach.

On Jib’s lackof appearance on the blog, he said he was going to take a break from it a night or two ago, haven’t seen him since.

Odd that Toon22 hasn’t been on all day, however.

If he’s not backed I really hope he walks, he really isn’t doing us any favours by keeping us in the league a season longer.

Yeah Springy Almiron deal is dead in the water. Heard a few weeks ago that Arsenal were interested in him but obviously not or they’d have snapped him up by now. Remember he might be showing promise but can he really perform in the Premier League? Anyone buying him now for big money would be taking a risk and buying on hope value for appreciation in the future. It would be a punt and NUFC don’t do punts – only long pulls down the middle. If we could get him on loan with an option to buy in the Summer it may then fit the Ashlie blueprint for young players showing potential with promising sell on value.

The blog ticks over without anyone. You read some old posts, where have they all gone. Jib tried his very best to destroy this place as Jeff from Benwell before he realised he liked it on here. I, for one would not miss him.

    My sentiments entirely Jail.
That’s why I think we should put our strongest team out in the FA Cup replay and give it our best shot. Well trained players should be able to keep themselves fit to play three games in a week. After all any one of them could be hit by a bus in the Haymarket. Really can’t see any merit fuelling Ashlie’s bank balance season after season by finishing 17th and above defending like hell against top teams just to stay in this mad league.

Jail @20 – I did say it wouldn’t be a popular opinion and I agree Jeff from Benwell was a vile character but nobody has ever proved that Jib was him. Although we called him the Googlemeister he is, obviously, an intelligent guy who doesn’t suffer fools gladly and of course lacking PCness!

Yeah yer probably right Springy but Ashlie needs to know TIME & TIDE wait for no man and he’s no exception. He’s not bothered and still thinks that The Magician Benitez will come to his rescue again this season. He didn’t bargain for the great possibly of Rafa jumping ship 1st February or before and him going down with the sinking ship. The RAT!

Jib/Jane/Jeff is a classic example of a WUM. It definitely can work. He’s got me going quite a few times. He usually quiets down and sometimes even disappears for a bit if people give it back to him. If you come on here you have to be prepared to fight back in my opinion. Everyone is going to feel somebody else’s sting once in a while. He actually has the nerve now to correct people’s grammer (after he checks on google of course). Hilarious.

We’re in for a real fight down the stretch with no significant acquisitions coming in thanks to Ashley. I give us a 50/50 chance of survival now, down from my 70/30 odds earlier in the season. Injuries or lack thereof will play a huge role of course.
