Newcastle’s Pursuit Of Almiron Drags On And On – Where’s The Ambition?

The Mail is reporting today that Newcastle have bid £17M for Miguel Almiron, but that’s £8M below the price Atlanta are asking for one of their top players.

And we heard yesterday that the other sticking point is again the money – with the player wanting £100K/week.

But the report in the Mail is that the player’s agent Daniel Campos has agreed to Almiron’s wages with Newcastle, but that two other Premier League clubs are interested.

This seems a typical case of the way Newcastle do their business in the transfer market.

They labor to meet the financial requirements of the transfer and then, probably at the end of the month in this case, another club comes in and signs the player.

The way Newcastle drag out transfer negotiations is quite pathetic.

Miguel Almiron – potential transfer drags on

Since Almiron is Rafa’s number one priority this month, he will not be too impressed with the way Newcastle are doing their business.

This could also be the last transfer window that Rafa will be the Newcastle manager.

While Newcastle are said to be Almiron’s preferred club, there are other clubs from different countries said to be interested in signing the Paraguayan International.

Here’s what Campos has said to radio stations in Paraguay:

“There are two to three clubs in England that have interest but we have not advanced much.”

“With Newcastle, I spoke about the player’s salary, but the club needs to raise their offers with Atlanta if they want to get the player.”

“If Newcastle raises their offers, they could be one of the clubs to sign Almiron, but there are other clubs.”

“There are clubs from England, Germany, Italy, and Spain that are interested in Miguel Almiron, but we aren’t going to rush things.”

This is all so tiresome – the way Newcastle show no dynamism or ambition in these transfer windows.

Something has to give.

We hope it’s not Rafa Benitez who has to be growing sick and tired of all of this nonsense under Ashley.

Comments welcome.

Why give a headline you already know the answer to. Nothing is going to change under the current regime.

Ashleys ambition is more likely to be owning Debenhams than treating nufc with respect.

Without wanting to sound like an Ashley apologist I would have thought £17m is a very fair offer for an untried youngster who has never played outside of the Americas – I’m actually surprised we’ve bid that much!

Ashley’s pushing Rafa out of the club and that means he’ll not sanction even £17m on a player Rafa wants.

Add to that, it’s renewal time for STs and we all know how new signings convince fans that each new season’s gonna be different. Harrumph!

Bullchit Bishop’s been a busy bunny of late and there’ll be more to come. However, with the contradictions between who’s accepted what he needs to get his act together so that the club and the Mail are telling the same lies!

£17m sounds impressive and Charnley’d be sacked if Atlanta had accepted it – that’s assuming an offer was made.

Lesh – exactly probably all just PR spin.

    Nothing happening on any front.

If the sale was happening I’d have thought we’d have seen movement by now. I don’t doubt buyers want it just that Ashley will sell it.

It feels like the only way he will go is he keeps hold of it, gets us relegated, rafa leaves, a yes man or 2 fail to get us up, debts mount, club goes into administration after a few years and the club is rescued for a pound by someone. I have no faith in Ashley letting go other wise.

FFS £17 million gets you very little these days. I would suggest you look at the prices other clubs have to pay. We sold Mitrovic for £25 million so we have the money. We’ve scouted him for months like Deli Alli who was a boy and we wouldn’t pay £5 million! Look at him now!

Why do we bother writing on social media? Nothing has changed nothing will change for the better until the Ashley creature leaves . As long as he has his fingers in our club we are on a downward spiral. Signing off until there really is something to report.
