This Star Player Is Going Nowhere In January

Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka says he is “very happy” at Newcastle United.

The 29-year-old is not thinking of leaving Newcastle in January, and he wouldn’t be allowed to leave in any case by manager Rafa Benitez.

Dubravka has been our best player this season although a rare error against Man United may have cost us at least a point in that game.

But overall he’s been in great form for Newcastle since arriving in late January last year on loan.

And it’s not surprising he’s been attracting some of the big clubs like Juventus.

Rafa Benitez talks to Martin Dubravka

The 29-year-old signed in the summer for just £4M from Sparta Prague after starring in the second half of last season at Newcastle.

This is what Dubravka has said today as reported in the Chronicle:

“I am very happy here. To be honest, I am completely focused on my job here and that is what I am concentrating on right now,”

“I know a lot of people have been asking me if I will stay or not, but I am happy now and I am not thinking about any other club.”

“For me, I am just focused 100% on doing my job for Newcastle United and making sure we stay in the Premier League.”

“We are not focused on these things (new signings, takeover etc) because we cannot do anything about that. We, as players, are just focused on our job.”

“We try to train well, listen to what the gaffer says, and try to do it on the pitch. Then everything else is up to the manager and the club, to see if they bring in players.”

“We will see what is going to happen, but what we have to do as players is to keep fighting for the points – because that’s what we need.”

We are 2 points above the relegation zone and have a tough game at Stamford Bridge in the late kickoff game tomorrow.

Newcastle need to start picking points out of these games – even the top six clubs – and we face three of them in the next four games.

We’ll hear from Rafa today in his press conference and maybe he has some good news for fans.

Nothing much has happened in the transfer window and it’s more than a third of the way through the month.

The sad thing is, if a big money offer comes in for him it’s neither his nor Rafa’s say whether he stays or goes.

Bishop has now spun things so that it would seem there are worse people (ie Kenyon) than Ashley out there to own a club!!

Strangely nothing about Ashley’s insatiable greed or endlessly moving the goal posts etc.

It’s just tragic that due to a fat oaf’s arrogant drunken greed we willl be forever haunted by what could have been under the Mansours. Trouble is Ash would do the same thing again tomorrow

I don’t completely exonerate Rafa either.

He should have gven Merino more game time and told him he was the future beyond Diame’s few good games towards the end of last season.

M’Babu should have been kept and we should never have gone anywhere near Manquillo.

Not sure if Murphy was a Rafa buy or forced on him so jury out there.

Joselu – he must have been in a really dark or desperate place to sanction that.

We’ll probably get karanka in the summer. Knows the championship and the players are used to defensive football if we stay up. Mad decision by forest.
