Newcastle will play CSKA Moscow today with a 12pm Spain kickoff time – so that’s 11:00am British time.
It will be the culmination of what seems to have been a very successful five-day warm weather training camp in Murcia, Spain where the lads have been doing double sessions to prepare for the 12 game run-in to the season.
The game is at the Pinatar Arena in Murcia in Spain, which has a capacity of 3,500 and the game will be the usual 90 minutes.
Rafa will try to give as many players a runout as possible.
Jamaal Lascelles – Newcastle captain
Captain Jamaal Lascelles has talked about the game:
“We have got a game on Saturday which we will be looking to win and hopefully it puts us in a good position for our next Premier League game.”
“It is only a friendly game but CSKA are a big team and a huge club so we will be looking to beat them and get some momentum heading back into the Premier League.”
“They will be a good side but we have been working hard.”
“Maybe some of the new players and players who haven’t played so much will be able to play with confidence and express themselves freely.
“Some players can get pressured on TV games, or playing at St James’ or traveling to the Emirates.”
“But over here it will be more about players trying to express themselves and giving the manager something to think about.”
Our two new players Miguel Almiron and Antonio Barreca will have been integrated into the squad and know fully what Rafa expects of them.
We’ll have another look at Almiron today, who looked full of energy and running in the last 15 minutes at Wolves last Monday night when he made his debut.

Comment #4Big game today. CSKA are a proud club with a great heritage. Runners up in the league last season and third this season they have one of the best forwards in Russian football in Fyodor Chalov.
It will be interesting to see how we match up against them.
