Rafa To Bring Shelvey Back Only When He’s 100% Fit – Has Other Options

Jonjo Shelvey was one of two players who was not in the Newcastle squad for yesterday’s game along with Ciaran Clark.

It seems the thigh injury turned worse when Jonjo insisted on playing a couple of months ago when he was not 100% fit and he paid the price for his enthusiasm to play for Newcastle as much as possible.

Rafa has said before that sometimes you have to manage Jonjo becasue he always wants to play.

But with Sean Longstaff playing so well, Rafa has more time to ensure Jonjo is completely fit and the thigh doesn’t become a long term injury concern for the England International.

Ki and Mo Diame are both getting match practice and Isaac Hayden is playing his best football at Newcastle right now.

Jonjo Shelvey – relaxing in Murcia, Spain last week

Longstaff and Hayden have looked an excellent young combination for Newcastle in central midfield over the last several games.

This is what the manager has said about Shelvey – as reported in the Chronicle today:

“He is pushing – the player wants to play.”

“But sometimes when you have other options it is about managing him, being careful and making sure is fit for the rest of the season.”

The only sub not to play in yesterday’s 1-1 draw with CSKA Moscow was Martin Dubravka, as Rafa took a closer look at Karl Darlow and Freddie Woodman and both looked competent.

We expect Martin to start in goal for us against Huddersfield Town next Saturday afternoon.

Comments welcome.

    geordietom,
I’ve no idea, you’d think for balance that both parties would enter it, but I’m not sure how he can get away with calling other parties time wasters after they’ve spent fortunes on due diligence and they’re not allowed to give their version of events. Although Staveley gave an interview saying three credible bids were lodged that seemed to be largley ignored.

    geordietom,
As for the autocue, do you think he’d go anywhere near a credible journo to give an interview, George Caulkin perhaps.

Jib…….. That sounds very much like what Jane would say!!

That’s probably cos she and I are reasonable adults
with a sense of proportion unlike you and Jail
You just made that stupid comment
and Jail when I gave him a dig about being a Mackem
accused me of being a predatory homosexual.
Apart from their differing views on Rafa
Jail and Catchy are very similar characters

Tom there are differing types of NDA
There’s one where only the buyer has
    to keep quiet – unilateral
or mutual – where both keep schtum

    Jib,
Have you considered Sally the seals feelings when accusing me of molesting her, no, Freddy the dolphin has never been the same since his ordeal and now lives in isolation in the Shetlands. It’s ok for you to bandy about accusations of sexual misappropriateness but when I suggest your hand wandered from the gear stick one to many times you get proper offended. Double standards old bean.

    Geordietom #1,

I believe the seller will allow a prospective buyer to look at his accounts (due diligence) on condition he signs an NDA (or ‘gagging order’ in other legal circumstances) to protect the privacy of his accounts. There is no requirement for the seller to sign an NDA covering negotiations unless that is agreed separately between parties.

    …as Jib has just stated.

Jib………. Re comment 20 from previous thread. I’m not having any of that bollox. It’s very suspicious that both you and Jane spring to Ashley’s defence when there is anything suggested that the club wouldn’t approve of. I was expecting Jane to condemn my suggestion that was quite clearly tongue in cheek , but you seem to work the morning shift so I suppose it’s one and the same.

With regards to Jail’s banter about your nocturnal taxi driving activities , I can’t speak for him but why is that any worse than some of the stick you dish out to people. Give and take old boy is surely the fairest way to behave on a blog like this.

We are in the thick stuff no doubt about it, we have a monumental fight on our hands, i hope they don’t think for one minute they are too good to go down because the other two times we had some real quality in those teams and and we took the drop, most of this season has wholly disappointed me, glimpses of promise scattered here and there that’s it, I still have no great faith in our survival, we still have players who are far to inconsistent in the team, plus the Shelvey’s and Diame’s of this world are total fair weather players, who have not deserved their wages at all this season, i can’t see it anything else but going down to the last few games.

If Ashley has entered a mutual NDA
then that means the buyers reveal
sensitive stuff to him , which could indicate
that his insistence that a buyer has to have
enough funds to take NUFC forward is true.

That view maybe somewhat extreme and I think the ony way it could be achieved without any comebacks is by having the oft quoted fatwa placed on the fat man. Mind you it’s a long time since he insulted them so I think that boat has sailed.

If you cannot see the difference between that and an accusation

i can never recall a season when we have had so many blatant, consistently, almost every week it seems, decisions given against us, ranging from when we were 2-0 up at O.T and were not given the pen for the handball to the ref finding 2 extra minutes, instead of 30 seconds, after 94 mins and what looked a foul on the keeper last time out.

Jib……… I really think that you ought to clear up the Jib / Jane confusion once and for all as there are still nagging doubts in many people’s minds. There have been several occasions over the years when you have slipped up and replied as Jane from your Jib moniker and vice versa. This has been picked up on and has then rightly or wrongly led to people assuming that you are in some way associated with the transsexual / cross dressing community.

In this modern era there is nothing to be ashamed or embarassed about if you are indeed of a different sexual orientation and I’m sure nobody on here is looking to condemn you in any way for your sexuality. It would however just be nice to know the truth , from the horses mouth so to speak. Therefore please could you just come clean and explain to the blog who is who and what is what.

think newcastle fans bring a lot of unwanted negativity to the club
Its the vast majority of them as well
We as fans need to be more positive about the project here that mike ashley is doing
I agree he isn’t chucking millions at it and he could of done a lot better
He could of invested more but let’s not forget he is also a business man .
He has not sold us down the river either
We are not in the state of Sunderland we are in a position where we can bridge a gap and get closer to the top 6
We need a few pieces to the jigsaw
If we are shrewd enough this summer and we get the right players
Maybe 3 good players who will push us
Who have the experience and guile to make us more clinical in front of goal
Goal scorers is all where missing
We have a great defence and centre mid positions
We need serious talent in the wide position s and another top striker to achieve a top 6 finish
Maybe if everyone gets behind ashley he will be more willing to help us do that
If everyone slated me I would be reluctant to help them out
People have to forget what’s happened in the past and look to the future by supporting all aspects at the club including the owner
    In order to move forward
We may not get the millions other clubs are afforded
