Rafa On The Lookout For Top Youngsters This Summer – Like This Striker

The Mirror are reporting that Newcastle are keen to sign 18-year-old MK Dons wonder-kid Recoe Martin in the summer.

He’s been called the new Dele Alli, but if Newcastle hadn’t dithered around back in January 2015, we could have signed Alli.

But Tottenham nipped in ahead of us and signed him on the final day of the January transfer window for £5M.

But with Rafa Benitez now in charge of things if we are really after the 18-year-old, maybe we can cut out the hesitation and dithering and sign the teenager.

Southampton and Norwich are the other two clubs reported interested in the teenager.

Recoe Martin – 18-year-old Milton Keynes striker

Recoe has been starring for the MK Dons junior side, and he caught the attention when he scored five goals when the U18s came back from 2-0 down to Leyton Orient to win that game 5-2.

The teenager has yet to sign a pro-contract at the club, and he could be available for a compensation fee if Newcastle went after him this summer.

If the compensation fee cannot be agreed between the two clubs, it would go to arbitration when a committee would set the compensation amount.

The left-footed striker caught the eye last week after scoring five goals in 17 minutes as the MK Dons’ U18 side came back from 2-0 down to beat Leyton Orient 5-2.

England and Tottenham star Alli also started at MK Dons but when he left the club he was a regular starter in central midfield and had played over 60 times for Milton Keynes club.

MK Dons U18 coach Edu Rubio has talked about Martin:

“I am really pleased for Recoe.”

“He gets a bit of stick sometimes because he is not the best player tactically and not always the most disciplined.

“But today he has showed what he is capable of with a quite remarkable scoring sequence near the end of the game.”

Rafa Benitez is always looking for top young players to bring to Newcastle who he can then turn into top first team players at the club.

And Recoe only turned 18 on 28th January this year.

Maybe here’s a player he can do that with and sign him this summer?

What do you think?

Rafa may well be looking at these players but who for is the crucial question.

    Jail,
Mitrovic would go for a lot more than 20m even if Fulham are relegated, maybe double if he can get another few goals. If you’re looking for a young target man type forward which many teams are, then he’d possibly the best for his age. I’d have him back in a flash. 10 goals is a decent return for a player at a team with something like 17 points even if he did only score them because Fulham play to his strenths (as every team plays to their strikers strengths).

    The next Mike Williamson,
The proof of that will be in the pudding if they decide to sell him. Even if Fulham are relegated???

    The next Mike Williamson,
Playing to Mitro’s strengths didn’t exactly do Fulham any good or ours we we went down either, Rafa obviously thought that if he set up around Mitro then we wouldn’t have been promoted and once promoted wouldn’t have survived by sticking with the Serb.
