Report – Benitiz Negotiations Drag On – Growing Concerns He May Walk Away

There is news in L’Equipe today that Newcastle are checking on the availability of managers in case Rafa Benitez walks away from Newcastle.

We are all hoping he will stay at Newcastle, but we suppose until that’s a certainty and he sings along the dotted line Newcastle have to look at their options – just in case Rafa walks.

The report is that Newcastle have asked Israeli super-agent Pini Zahavi to find Newcastle a replacement for manager Rafa Benitez.

And he is concentrating on Bruno Genesio of Lyon who may be leaving the club.

Pini Zahavi is also Genesio’s agent.

52 year-old Lyon manager Bruno Genesio – Newcastle interested

The timeline on Genesio and whether he leaves has been set for the end of this month.

Here’s a piece from a Get French Football News report about Newcastle situation:

The Magpies’ board want Rafael Benitez to sign a contract extension, with the Spaniard’s current deal also expiring in June.”

“But negotiations are dragging and the possibility of the former Real Madrid & Liverpool coach leaving are increasing.”

“Newcastle have been preparing for the potential departure of Benitez for several months, and have asked Zahavi to find them options.”

“Genesio, for the moment, is not entirely sold – his priority is to remain with Lyon if they will extend his deal.”

Newcastle must sign Rafa up sooner rather than later so let’s hope we can beat Bournemouth tomorrow to make safety in the Premier league more certain.

In a way if Ashley really wants to continue with this daft model of only buying young players and chucking them into the first team to sell on he would be better getting a coach who kind of already works to a similar system…..

That sounds like Pinhas Zahavi pulling one
of his usual stunts – using the NUFC situation
to put pressure on OL to extend Génésio’s contract

    Utter tripe.
I ignore most rumblings from agents as they are normally just a stunt to garner more money for them/a client.

The talk about a loan manager and noises
about the academy seem to indicate that
“the hierarchy/board” and Rafa moving closer
together with Charnley in the Henry Kissinger role
