How Newcastle Compare To Last Season After Last Night’s Win

Last season our 34th game was at Everton and we lost that game 1-0.

We had won our previous four games against Southampton, Huddersfield, Leicester, and Arsenal.

Newcastle can beat our points total of 44 points of last season if we can now get 7 points from our final four games.

Rafa Benitez – with foot on the ball

Premier League SeasonPlayedWonDrawnLostGFGAGDPoints
2017-201835118163544-941
2018-201935118163544-941

Here are our final four league games.

Sat 20 Apr Newcastle vs Southampton 5:30pm
Sat 27 Apr Brighton vs Newcastle 5:30pm
Sun 05 May Newcastle vs Liverpool 4:30pm
Sun 12 May Fulham vs Newcastle 3:00pm

We could win three of those four games if we play like we did last night at the King Power Stadium.

But we are still 8 points behind 10th placed Watford who have a game in hand, so it’s going to be difficult to finish the season in the top half of the table.

Rafa will want four wins in the final four games (of course) so we can finish the season on a real high with five wins on the trot.

The home game against Liverpool should be very interesting.

even though we probably won’t get as many points and will finish lower than 10th this season has been better.

Just looking at the stats for goalkeeping and we have currently 10 clean sheets this season.

With a bit of luck Dubs could be in the top 5 at the end of the season, its tight from 4th – 8th for keepers.

    £4.3 million or something 🙂

    last season avoid relegation
    this season consolidation

in Rafa’s interview after the match last night he alluded to mid-table next season (he mentioned 7th to 12th)

Does anyone know if Rondon scored free kicks for WBA and had he tried one for us before the West Ham game???

Surely he couldn’t have just discovered at the ripe old age of 29 that he could take one of the best free kicks in the world?

I dont think any manager could of done what Rafa has over the last two seasons.

They go on about Pep, Klopp, poch and others, but they either had millions and millions at their disposal or already had an excellent group of premier league players.

We came back up from Championship with Nectar points to spend in the transfer window.

Maybe its Rafas fault Ash is still here, makes him too much money.

Dubs, Schar, Lejeune, Hayden all brought in for under £20 million….Probably worth well over £70 million now – which in itself causes the problem.

Ash works this way, buy cheap, sell at a profit, give Rafa crumbs and all over again….

It’s been said before, could we dream what team Rafa could build if given the resources ?

There was a guy on twitter who posted rondons freekick yeasterday along with all his other attempts this season. Included one from West Brom which he scored but there were no fans in the stadium, seemed like a pre season match.

Asked the same question last night on Rondon and Free Kicks
Surely they must of been free kicks with different players in training
Been crying out for someone who can take a decent free kick.
Some one said before a recent game started Rondon was practicing free kicks

Still buzzing but did anybody see that stat Skysports put up about number of crosses this season? Matt Richie was at the top – so much for not being a proper winger!
Also loved the way Rafa moved in for a kiss with Kelly at end of the interview – the dirty dawg 😀

that’s how the continentals do it. just after that just as the shot changed i thought Gary Neville stuck out his hand to shake Rafa’s hand but i thought Rafa didn’t take it whether that was deliberate or not.

    RIP Tommy Smith.
Anyone else remember a cup final (I think) between “dirty” Leeds who had some thugs like Billy Bremner and Johnny Giles. Of course their chief one was North East lad Norman Hunter. The Leeds fans had banners proclaiming “Norman bites your legs”, but one Liverpool banner read “Tommy Smith bites his own legs!”.
    Brilliant!

“Tommy Smith bites his own legs!”

    i don’t get it?

    was it because of this..

“Smith decided to delay his retirement and played a further season for Liverpool (missing the successful retention of the European Cup after a DIY accident at home injured his foot).”

He’s possibly my star player this season.
