Exclusive Report – Benitez Offered Massive £15M 12 Month Deal – Owner To Sell Club – Problems Exist

The Sun is reporting today that Newcastle will offer Rafa Benitez a one year contract worth £15M that will keep him at the club for one year through next June 30th.

The Sun is calling the report an exclusive – well why not – it’s a Sunday.

Rafa’s contract runs out on June 30th but a one-year extension seems nonsensical – we’ll have the same uncertainty with Rafa as we have now – he could be leaving next summer rather than this summer.

It’s called kicking the can down the road when people cannot solve their current problems so come up with a hokey one-year solution to delay it for a year – or for some other period.

It looks like a problem has been solved (phew!) until it comes up again.

That’s only one way of getting nothing done and not solving your problems.

The US Congress does it all the time.

Mike Ashley new offer to the manager – lacks any deep thinking or common sense

The sum that Rafa will get includes a substantial basic wage of around £240K/week plus a survival bonus of around £2.4M – by our estimates.

So Ashley is again thinking about avoiding relegation next season – presumably until he can sell the club.

The Sun reports that Ashley doesn’t want to put Benitez on a long term lucrative deal since that would add to the cost for anyone buying Newcastle.

Once again it seems Ashley only thinks about the money side of things and he seems to be hoping for a buyer within the next year.

Does he not realize if Rafa is put on a one year deal it will be difficult to bring players in this summer – and then come Xmas, people will again be asking if Rafa will be leaving in six months.

It’s deja vu – all over again.

That’s always assuming this news is accurate – although we have difficulty believing it will turn out to be true.

But honestly – if the report is accurate this offer lacks any kind of common sense or football thinking.

It’s certainly not what Rafa is looking for – he wants a long term project at Newcastle and he’s said that many times.

This is another example of incompetence coming from Mike Ashley and the way he thinks about football.

It’s incmpetence in motion.

Heh, optimistic, is perfectly, correct! i can,t substanciate the comment i made !t is just rumour control , which i have heard from two or three different Mags inthe last few months ! I have also heard that the only way to get rid of Ashley would be , heaven forbid, to drop two divisions like the Mackems have done ! If this happened then we would be of no interest Financialy to Ashley ! This would break my heart of it happened! But at least Fat Ash would be gone for good!

Hey, take a break and come back and hardly recognise the place. No backbiting, no snidiness, all love and good…. sorry, wrong blog.
Final game and Newcastle are up for sale again. Well I never.
So Ashley expects to pay Rafa 15 million for one season, not wanting to drop the latest owner with a big bill. His heart is huge. So he expects Rafa to then, what…? Take a wage cut? Pay him 6 million for all three seasons – he was happy with that, instead of 15 for one – and then he wouldn’t expect 15 EVERY season. Just more ‘I tried my best BS’.
So, frog aside, does anybody – just one of you – believe Ashley? Is he really ready to sell? No, thought not. Why does he even bother paying for these lies?
Would I take Ashley’s 15 million? Yes. We all would. Please, don’t lie. You would. But he doesn’t want personal gain. He wants success. And that’s where he and Ashley can never see eye to eye. Ashley thinks money is everything. Rafa wants to challenge. Maybe Rafa can afford to refuse his offer, but I hope he doesn’t. I’ve enjoyed learning different tactics under Rafa. How to beat a half billion pound team on buttons – awesome, even with a goal head start. How to negate the so called best on a shoestring. I’ll take another year of that because the alternative is scary. Without Rafa, we’re knackered.

    geordietom,
If we get there, the train’s heading back to Thornaby for signals failure and taking a different route, they’re not stopping fans going in there was just a bit of a farce with issuing the first lot of tickets sold.

    Bobby,
I’m not sure if the love fest with Rafa would continue if he took 15M to carry on as we were. He couldn’t use the not my choices excuse and we’re not competing anymore and I think the fans would turn if results were like last year, it was starting to turn a bit nasty after Brighton last year, that was with everyone knowing his hands were tied, knowing he was getting 15M to serve up that dross from last year wouldn’t go down well.

£15m for one year or £6m for 3 years, £18m, with inflation and cost of money there’s very little difference.

I’m calling total bullshoit on this one.

New owners. Would they want their own choice of manager.
Don’t see it being a big issue.
They would only think like that if they were big hitters and wanted to bring in a particular name with a blank cheque book.
If that were the case they can have who they like I suppose.

Perhaps Rafa will buy players himself!

I do hope that £15m is not the transfer kitty on offer.

I reckon if Rafa was given as little as £50m to spend as he liked, on transfers, improvements to training facilities and his own wages, he would make it work.

There you go munster, jail agreed all along – it was dross. 🙂
If Rafa stays – regardless of salary – it will be because terms have been agreed. He could go to China for £60m.
Ashley is Ashley. Regardless of who’s in charge, he’ll spend what little he can. Rather have Rafa in charge than anybody else currently available. He won’t stay if Ashley refuses to even try and compete. The point was – wasted – if he agreed to stay, would you take the 15m? I would, but I’d still want to compete. You obviously had shallow thoughts about Rafa if you think he’ll stay just for the money. He won’t. He’s said as much. Personal terms are irrelevant, he wants to compete. If he stays, Ashley has shifted. If he goes, he goes – Ashley hasn’t turned one bit.
I’ve enjoyed this season. Good Times, bad times, typical season. That’s football.

Hibbett, despite everything, I still think he’ll stay mate. He’s happy here. He just needs a nudge from the knacka that’s all. The extra money won’t influence him, he’s rich enough, but only a mug would turn it down. Time will always tell.
Lift broke Saturday night. 🙂 Had to crawl down from level four. Ruined me week. Just recovering now. Got right down to 10mg on painkillers, had to go back up 20mg. On the way back down though. So close…. 🙂 Glad the seasons over – need the rest lmao!!

Tom, Rafa won’t take the money unless there’s an agreement to compete. After what he’s done these last three seasons he’s worth every it as much as any other manager. Like to see Pep or Klippetty do what he’s done.
It’s not our money. If Ashley pays him more so he should. He’s saved him millions.
It’s just typical Ashley – offer more money when money isn’t the issue.
Any manager who’s done what Rafa’s just done again deserves a rise. He hasn’t asked for it. But it won’t alter his Stance and anybody thinking like that is doing Rafa a bad disservice.

It’s amazing how easy it is to convince large sections of the population that unsubstantiated opinions, or mischievous / malevolent rumours, are indisputably true!

Dr Goebbels would have been impressed at the scale of toxic lies and deceptions that are willingly absorbed by so many people.

For instance, the Sunday Times, in a leading article, claims that the richest people in the UK are preparing to move their hard earned savings out of this country! What a load of tosh, that boat sailed many, many years ago!…..

But it was dross then? I enjoyed it but that’s just me. He won’t stay just for the money and frankly, I’m disappointed you of all people would even consider that option. He’s a man of principle. Let him compete and he’ll stay, regardless of salary. He won’t take 15m to fight relegation again. You know that. I know that. He deserves better.

£15m is just the latest example of Michael Ashley as a miner of hope. He relies on exploiting the natural optimism of people for his financial benefit, i’m sure he doesn’t exhibit optimism, it’s a human trait.

I think, if there’s any truth in the story, which is obviously very debatable then the 15M being touted wouldn’t be with any provisions to compete at all, it would be to keep us in the division and another big wedge in Mike’s pocket.
