Exclusive Report – Benitez Offered Massive £15M 12 Month Deal – Owner To Sell Club – Problems Exist

The Sun is reporting today that Newcastle will offer Rafa Benitez a one year contract worth £15M that will keep him at the club for one year through next June 30th.

The Sun is calling the report an exclusive – well why not – it’s a Sunday.

Rafa’s contract runs out on June 30th but a one-year extension seems nonsensical – we’ll have the same uncertainty with Rafa as we have now – he could be leaving next summer rather than this summer.

It’s called kicking the can down the road when people cannot solve their current problems so come up with a hokey one-year solution to delay it for a year – or for some other period.

It looks like a problem has been solved (phew!) until it comes up again.

That’s only one way of getting nothing done and not solving your problems.

The US Congress does it all the time.

Mike Ashley new offer to the manager – lacks any deep thinking or common sense

The sum that Rafa will get includes a substantial basic wage of around £240K/week plus a survival bonus of around £2.4M – by our estimates.

So Ashley is again thinking about avoiding relegation next season – presumably until he can sell the club.

The Sun reports that Ashley doesn’t want to put Benitez on a long term lucrative deal since that would add to the cost for anyone buying Newcastle.

Once again it seems Ashley only thinks about the money side of things and he seems to be hoping for a buyer within the next year.

Does he not realize if Rafa is put on a one year deal it will be difficult to bring players in this summer – and then come Xmas, people will again be asking if Rafa will be leaving in six months.

It’s deja vu – all over again.

That’s always assuming this news is accurate – although we have difficulty believing it will turn out to be true.

But honestly – if the report is accurate this offer lacks any kind of common sense or football thinking.

It’s certainly not what Rafa is looking for – he wants a long term project at Newcastle and he’s said that many times.

This is another example of incompetence coming from Mike Ashley and the way he thinks about football.

It’s incmpetence in motion.

I think the big problem with Brexit is that we should have had more of a swopportunity to consider it. Maybe a simulcast of a webinar or more blogs on it would have helped mansplain it better, then people wouldn’t have been so afraid they would be like our cousin’s on the other side of the Chunnel, speaking Franglish and whatnot. Instead we had Imagineering by all sorts of banksters and taxperts frightening UK citizens into staycationing.
